A spit rod is a long, greasy, awkwardly balanced piece of stainless steel with two sharp fork sets attached. Left in a drawer it scratches everything around it; left in the garage it corrodes. The bag keeps the whole assembly together, protected from dust and moisture, and out of contact with the rest of your tools.

Constructed from durable outdoor-rated material, it stores flat and carries easily. The 44-inch size is what the larger hybrid and 42-inch spits actually need — a 32-inch bag will not close over a full-length rod, and forcing it is how forks get bent. If your grill is over 36 inches wide, this is the one.
