Bonfire Built-In Grills

Bonfire builds 304 stainless steel built-in grills aimed at buyers who want premium features such as infrared searing and rotisserie at a price well below the luxury tier.

It is also one of the few brands in this segment offering a black stainless finish, which has made it popular with designers working on modern outdoor kitchens. Browse the full Bonfire collection or go straight to Bonfire built-in grills.

Bonfire's built-in range covers three widths:

• Whistler 3, 28-inch: 3 burners, 48,000 BTUs, with infrared searing and rotisserie.

• Whistler 4, 32-inch: 4 burners, 72,000 BTUs, 304 stainless steel.

• Whistler 4 Black Stainless, 32-inch: the same 4-burner, 72,000 BTU platform in a black stainless finish.

• Prime 500, 42-inch: 5 burners in stainless steel, available in propane or natural gas.

• Whistler 500 Prime Black Series, 42-inch: 5 burners, 87,000 BTUs, in the black finish.

Whistler is the core range, named by burner count. The Whistler 3 is the compact 28-inch three-burner, and the Whistler 4 is the 32-inch four-burner at 72,000 BTUs.

Prime 500 is the flagship 42-inch, five-burner platform, with the Black Series version rated at 87,000 BTUs.

Choose Whistler if your island opening is 28 or 32 inches. Choose Prime 500 if you have a 42-inch cutout and want maximum burner count and output.

Black stainless is a finish applied over stainless steel, and Bonfire offers it on both the 32-inch Whistler 4 and the 42-inch Prime 500 Black Series.

It suits modern outdoor kitchens with dark stone, concrete, or charcoal-toned cabinetry, where a bright stainless grill can look out of place.

Practically, treat a black finish the same as any stainless surface: clean it regularly, avoid abrasive pads, and keep it under a fitted grill cover when not in use.

Bonfire built-in grills are available in 28-inch, 32-inch, and 42-inch configurations.

The 32-inch Whistler 4 is the volume size and fits the most common mid-size island opening. The 28-inch is the compact option, and the 42-inch Prime 500 is the entertaining size.

Select the exact model before island construction so your contractor works from the manufacturer's current cutout dimensions rather than the advertised grill width.

For most residential outdoor kitchens, the 32-inch Whistler 4 is the best balance: four burners, 72,000 BTUs, 304 stainless, and a cutout size that fits most islands.

For entertaining, the 42-inch Prime 500 adds a fifth burner and meaningfully more grate space.

For a compact island, the 28-inch Whistler 3 still includes infrared searing and rotisserie, which is unusual at that size. Our general built-in grill FAQs cover island planning.

The Whistler 4 models specify 304 stainless steel, the grade used across premium built-in grills for corrosion resistance.

Confirm the material specification for the exact model you are considering. A fitted grill cover and routine cleaning matter more to how any grill ages than the spec sheet alone.

An infrared sear burner produces very high, direct radiant heat, which is what gives steaks a hard crust without overcooking the interior.

The 28-inch Whistler 3 includes infrared searing along with a rotisserie, which makes it a strong pick for a small island where you still want steakhouse capability.

If searing is a priority across the lineup, compare against other premium built-in grills in the $2,000 to $3,500 range.

Yes. Every Bonfire built-in grill is designed for installation into an outdoor kitchen island.

Before construction, verify the manufacturer's current:

• Cutout width

• Cutout depth

• Cutout height

• Combustible clearances

• Ventilation requirements

• Gas connection requirements

• Insulating-jacket requirements

Do not size the opening from the advertised width. See our outdoor kitchen expert advice for island planning guidance.

An insulating grill liner may be required when a built-in grill is installed into an island built from combustible materials such as wood framing.

Whether one is required depends on the model, surrounding construction, and the clearances given in the installation instructions. Our insulating grill liner FAQs explain when a liner is needed and how to match one to your grill.

Yes. Bonfire built-in grills are offered in natural gas and propane configurations, and the Prime 500 is listed for either fuel.

Confirm the exact configuration of the grill you are buying rather than assuming it can be converted after installation. Our natural gas and propane grill FAQs compare the two in detail.

The 304 stainless models are reasonable candidates for coastal installations, and the black stainless finish is no more or less vulnerable than bright stainless when it is maintained.

Salt, humidity, grease, and airborne contaminants should be cleaned off regularly, and the grill should be kept covered when not in use. See our grill cover FAQs for sizing help.

Two things: premium features at accessible pricing and the black stainless option.

Infrared searing and rotisserie on a 28-inch grill is not common at this price point, and few competitors offer a factory black finish for design-led kitchens.

Shoppers cross-shopping Summerset, RCS, TrueFlame, or Artisan should shortlist Bonfire when finish and searing capability matter.

Bonfire is a strong value proposition in the middle of the built-in market.

You get burner counts and features that usually cost more, which makes it a sensible choice when budget needs to cover the whole island, not just the grill. Compare against built-in grills in the $2,000 to $3,500 range to see where individual models land.

The 42-inch Whistler 500 Prime Black Series, with five burners and 87,000 BTUs, or the Prime 500 in standard stainless.

Either gives you enough grate space to cook proteins and vegetables simultaneously without crowding.

The 28-inch Whistler 3. Three burners, 48,000 BTUs, plus infrared searing and rotisserie in a compact cutout makes it an unusually capable small built-in.

If your opening allows a little more, the 32-inch Whistler 4 adds a fourth burner and 24,000 more BTUs.

Before ordering, settle on your model, size, finish, fuel type, and available island space, and verify the exact cutout dimensions before any masonry or cabinetry work begins.

For a new build, select the grill and major appliances first so your contractor can design the island around real equipment specifications. If you are planning a full outdoor kitchen, request a quote and we can spec the package with you.

Bonfire backs its grills with a manufacturer's warranty that varies by component. Full details are on our Bonfire warranty page, and general brand questions are answered in the Bonfire FAQ.
