Summerset Built-In Grills

Summerset is an outdoor kitchen brand known for offering a wide ladder of built-in grills, from value-oriented models up to commercial-grade units, so buyers can enter the brand at several price points.

That ladder is the most important thing to understand before shopping. Summerset's series differ not just in size and burner count but in the grade of stainless steel used, which affects both price and long-term corrosion resistance. Summerset's built-in lineup covers four families:

• Sizzler: The entry series, built from 443 stainless steel, in 25-inch, 32-inch, and 40-inch sizes.

• Sizzler Pro: A higher-output version of the Sizzler platform, offered as the 32-inch and 40-inch.

• TRL Pro: The step up to 304 stainless steel construction, in 32-inch and 40-inch.

• Resort: The commercial-grade option, the 30-inch SBG30, built in 304 stainless for heavy hospitality use.

The clearest dividing line is stainless steel grade.

Sizzler and Sizzler Pro are built from 443 stainless steel. It is a capable outdoor-rated stainless and keeps the price accessible, which is why the Sizzler is one of the most affordable ways into a real built-in grill.

TRL Pro and Resort step up to 304 stainless steel, the grade used across most premium built-in grills.

Within the Sizzler family, Sizzler Pro raises output: the 32-inch Sizzler Pro runs 56,000 BTUs across 4 burners versus 48,000 BTUs on the standard 32-inch Sizzler.

Resort is the outlier: a 30-inch commercial-grade grill designed for restaurants, resorts, and hospitality settings where the grill runs constantly.

Neither 304 nor 443 contains molybdenum, which is the element the published coastal guidance is built around, so neither is a coastal-rated grade. Near salt air the things that measurably change the outcome are surface finish, rinsing salt deposits off, and keeping the grill covered.

The two grades are closer than the price gap suggests: per ASTM A240, 443 actually carries more chromium than 304 (20.0-23.0% against 17.5-19.5%), and scores slightly higher on the standard pitting index. Choose on construction, gauge, how the joints are made, warranty and features rather than on the alloy number alone — the 443 stainless Sizzler and Sizzler Pro give the most cooking capacity per dollar, while the 304 stainless TRL Pro and Resort sit higher in the range. Our full 304 vs 443 stainless steel guide works through the detail.

Either way, a fitted grill cover and regular cleaning matter more to how the grill ages than the spec sheet alone.

Summerset built-in grills are available in 25-inch, 30-inch, 32-inch, and 40-inch configurations.

The 32-inch is the volume size across Sizzler, Sizzler Pro, and TRL Pro. The 40-inch is the entertaining size, with the Sizzler 40 offering 985 square inches across 5 burners. The 25-inch suits small islands, and the 30-inch Resort is the commercial option.

Select the exact model before island construction so your contractor works from the manufacturer's current cutout dimensions rather than the advertised grill width.

For most residential outdoor kitchens, a 32-inch built-in grill such as the TRL Pro 32 or Sizzler Pro 32 hits the balance of capacity, island space, and price.

For frequent entertaining, the TRL Pro 40 or Sizzler 40 gives you meaningfully more grate space.

For compact islands, the 25-inch Sizzler is the smallest footprint in the lineup. Our general built-in grill FAQs cover how to plan around island constraints.

Yes. Every Summerset built-in grill is designed for installation into an outdoor kitchen island.

Before construction, verify the manufacturer's current:

• Cutout width

• Cutout depth

• Cutout height

• Combustible clearances

• Ventilation requirements

• Gas connection requirements

• Insulating-jacket requirements

Do not size the opening from the advertised width. See our outdoor kitchen expert advice for island planning guidance.

An insulating grill liner may be required when a built-in grill is installed into an island built from combustible materials such as wood framing.

Whether one is required depends on the model, surrounding construction, and the clearances given in the installation instructions. Our insulating grill liner FAQs explain when a liner is needed and how to match one to your grill.

Yes. Summerset built-in grills are offered in natural gas and propane configurations depending on the model.

Natural gas suits permanent outdoor kitchens with an existing gas line, while propane offers flexibility where no line exists. Confirm the exact fuel configuration of the grill you are buying rather than assuming it can be converted later.

Our natural gas and propane grill FAQs compare the two in detail.

No Summerset grill is a coastal-rated grade: neither 304 nor 443 contains molybdenum, which is the element the published coastal guidance is built around. Near salt air the things that measurably change the outcome are surface finish, rinsing salt deposits off, and keeping the grill covered.

Salt, humidity, grease, and airborne contaminants should be cleaned off regularly regardless of grade, and the grill should be kept covered when not in use.

Plan on routine stainless cleaning and a model-specific grill cover. See our grill cover FAQs for sizing help.

Summerset's differentiator is range. Few brands span an affordable 443 stainless entry grill and a commercial-grade 304 stainless unit within one lineup, which makes it easy to match the grill to the budget without leaving the brand.

Shoppers cross-shopping American Made Grills, Coyote, RCS, TrueFlame, or Bonfire often shortlist Summerset when they want the most grill for a given budget.

Summerset is one of the better value propositions in built-in grilling, particularly in the Sizzler range.

The Sizzler and Sizzler Pro compete directly with built-in grills under $2,000 while still offering real built-in construction. The TRL Pro and Resort move into the $2,000 to $3,500 tier with 304 stainless.

Match the series to how often you cook and the cooking capacity you need, and Summerset is hard to beat on cost per square inch of cooking surface.

The 40-inch models. The Sizzler 40 gives you 985 square inches across 5 burners, while the TRL Pro 40 delivers similar capacity in 304 stainless.

The Sizzler Pro 40 sits between them on output and price.

The 25-inch Sizzler is the smallest built-in Summerset offers, with 3 burners and 36,000 BTUs, which is plenty for everyday cooking for one or two people.

If you have room for a slightly larger cutout, the 32-inch Sizzler adds a fourth burner and meaningfully more grate space for a modest step up in price.

The Resort SBG30 is Summerset's commercial-grade built-in, designed for restaurants, resorts, apartment amenity decks, and other hospitality settings where a grill runs daily.

It is also a reasonable choice for a residential cook who wants the most robust build in the lineup in a 30-inch cutout.

Before ordering, settle on your series, stainless grade, size, fuel type, and available island space, and verify the exact cutout dimensions before any masonry or cabinetry work begins.

For a new build, select the grill and major appliances first so your contractor can design the island around real equipment specifications. If you are planning a full outdoor kitchen, request a quote and we can spec the package with you.

Summerset backs its grills with a manufacturer's warranty that varies by series and component. Full details are on our Summerset warranty page, and general brand questions are answered in the Summerset FAQ.
