Frequently Asked Questions

What are the cutout dimensions for the RJC32A?

30 5/8" wide, 20 3/4" deep, 8 1/4" high. Overall the head is 32" wide by 20 3/4" deep by 8 1/4" high, so plan the opening around the 30 5/8" figure and let the trim sit on the counter.

Why does this grill list two BTU numbers?

Because there are two separate systems. The four stainless steel tubular burners make 48,000 BTUs, and the ceramic infrared rear burner adds 12,000 BTUs, for 60,000 BTUs total.

The rear burner is a back burner for roasting, not part of the main grate heat, so the 48,000 figure is what you cook steaks with.

What is the infrared rear burner for?

Slow-roasting. The 12,000 BTU ceramic infrared burner mounts at the back of the firebox and radiates heat forward across the length of the cooking chamber.

Does a rotisserie kit come with it?

The specification list for the RJC32A covers the rear burner but does not include a spit and motor. A rotisserie kit built for RJC32A grills is listed separately if you want to use that burner for whole birds and roasts.

How large is the grilling surface?

710 square inches. That is the working number to compare against the smaller Premier heads if you are deciding how much island width to give up to the grill.

Can I convert it from natural gas to propane?

Yes, the fuel type is convertible between natural gas and propane. Order the configuration that matches the line you already have run to the island.

What kind of cooking grids does it use?

Solid stainless steel grids, with a stainless steel warming rack above them. Briquette-style flavor grids sit underneath and spread burner heat before it reaches the food.

How reliable is the ignition on this grill?

It uses Sure-Strike ignition backed by manual flash tubes, so there is a mechanical path to light a burner if the igniter does not catch.

How is cleanup handled on a built-in like this?

A full-width slide-out drip tray pulls out toward you at the front of the island. That is the only access you need for routine grease removal.

Is an infrared searing burner available for the RJC32A?

An optional infrared searing burner upgrade is listed for this grill. Check your grill's model designation before ordering so the burner matches the firebox.

What if I want this grill without building an island?

The 32" Premier is also offered as a freestanding cart grill with the same 48,000 BTU four-burner layout, 12,000 BTU infrared back burner and 710 square inches of cooking area.
