What size propane tank fits in the DR1-20LP?
It is designed around a standard 20 lb propane tank. A removable propane tank holder is included to keep the tank from shifting as the drawer travels.
The holder lifts out, so the same drawer can be used for a trash bin instead if your gas supply changes later.
What opening do I need to build for it?
18" wide, 24 3/4" high and 20 1/2" deep. Frame to those figures rather than to the 20" overall width of the unit.
Why does a propane drawer need venting?
Propane is heavier than air, so it collects low rather than dissipating upward. The DR1-20LP has lower vented louvers built into the drawer specifically to improve airflow and help disperse gas buildup.
That is the difference between this drawer and a plain storage drawer of the same size, and it is why you should not substitute one for the other when storing LP.
