The hood is double-layer 304 black stainless steel. The housing and handle are 304 stainless.
How much power does the Prime 500 Black Series have?
87,000 BTUs in total: five cast stainless steel main burners at 15,000 BTUs each, plus a 12,000 BTU infrared rear burner.
What opening do I need to build into the island?
40.56" wide by 21.7" deep by 10.7" high.
Give those figures to whoever is framing the island, and confirm the countertop overhang does not narrow the finished opening.
How large is the cooking surface?
760 square inches of main grilling area, laid out as 40" by 19".
What do the zone dividers do?
They separate the grilling surface so you can hold different temperatures across the five burners rather than running one heat level end to end.
That matters most on a 42" grill, where you are often cooking two things that want different heat.
Does it come with a smoker box?
Yes. Every Prime 500 includes a large capacity smoker box, along with a rotisserie kit and a cover.
Is a sear burner part of the package?
No. The sear burner is optional on the Prime 500, so the grill as listed has its five main burners and the infrared rear burner.
What are the knobs and ignition like?
Heavy duty zinc alloy knobs with Fire Torch ignition, lit by decorative LEDs on the control panel. Halogen lights inside the hood cover the grates.
Can I get this in natural gas?
Yes, propane and natural gas are both offered. Check which fuel your island is plumbed for before ordering.
Does the Black Series come as a freestanding grill?
Bonfire builds the Prime 500 in built-in and cart versions. The 42" cart version stocked here is the Whistler 500 Prime cart grill, with the same 87,000 BTU five-burner layout.
Should I choose this or the bright stainless Prime 500?
Cooking performance is identical, and so is the cutout, so the choice is finish only.
The stainless Prime 500 also includes an LP/NG conversion tool listed in its description; compare the two spec lists if that matters to your install.
