What opening do I need to build into the island?
40.56" wide by 21.7" deep by 10.7" high.
Give those figures to whoever is framing the island, and confirm the countertop overhang does not narrow the finished opening.
How large is the cooking surface?
760 square inches of main grilling area, laid out as 40" by 19".
What do the zone dividers do?
They separate the grilling surface so you can hold different temperatures across the five burners rather than running one heat level end to end.
That matters most on a 42" grill, where you are often cooking two things that want different heat.
Does it come with a smoker box?

Should I choose this or the bright stainless Prime 500?
Cooking performance is identical, and so is the cutout, so the choice is finish only.
