Wind is the quiet enemy of a built-in grill. It pushes into the back of the firebox, drives heat forward over the control panel and makes the flame wander, and on an exposed patio it can make consistent cooking impossible. This is the Alfresco wind guard, model AWS-30, a 30-3/4" wide commercial-quality 304 stainless steel shield made for Alfresco's 30-inch ALXE built-in grills.
Key Features
- Steadies the flame in wind - Alfresco designs the AWS series to allow cooking with consistent flames when high wind conditions are present.
- 30-3/4" width - the size Alfresco publishes for the AWS-30, matched to the 30-inch grill it belongs to.
- Commercial-quality 304 stainless steel - the same grade and finish family as the grill it mounts to.
- Installs under the grill - it fits under the bottom ring perimeter of the ALXE barbecue unit, using minimal or no tools, and can be left permanently or fitted only when the weather calls for it.
- Works hood up or down - the guard functions with the grill hood in either the open or closed position.

Model and Installation Information
The model is AWS-30 and it is listed for Alfresco's 30-inch ALXE built-in grills. Check the model designation on your grill before ordering. Alfresco makes the same guard in 36-3/4", 42-3/4" and 56-3/4" widths for its wider grills, and there is a separate version for the 30-inch freestanding cart model, so width alone will not tell you which one you need.
No island cutout is involved. The guard installs under the bottom ring perimeter of the grill rather than into the counter, and Alfresco's installation sheet specifies a maximum 3-inch opening height and 1-inch clearance, so the space beneath your grill is what to check. Follow Alfresco's installation sheet and your grill's care and use manual.
Who This Model Is Best For
This is for a 30-inch ALXE owner whose grill sits somewhere genuinely exposed: a coastal patio, a rooftop, or an island with open sides and nothing upwind of it. If your grill is tucked against a wall or in a sheltered courtyard, you will not notice the difference. Because it goes on and comes off with little or no tooling, it is also a reasonable seasonal purchase for somewhere that is only windy part of the year.

Best pricing available for the product (checked all other on line retailers), and Ryan provided excellent responsiveness during the sales process. Loved dealing directly with the owner vs a sales person.
