Plan the installation

Have the installer confirm the enclosure materials, clearances, ventilation, approved support, gas capacity and electrical requirements. A nominal appliance size is not the required opening. If a jacket is required, select the approved model before the opening is built.

Compatible accessories

Review the listed Coyote insulating jacket and fitted weather cover. They serve different purposes and are separate purchases. Confirm model and generation compatibility.

Coyote also lists CWOK and CTEP cooking accessories for C3PB. See the Coyote CWOK wok and confirm cookware support before buying. The C3PB sell sheet has an inconsistent descriptive burner line; its fuel table and current installation guide both identify 60,000 BTU total.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much heat does the C3PB power burner put out?

30,000 BTUs.

That is the output level intended for boiling large pots and running a stockpot, not for gentle simmering of a small sauce.

What is it actually for?

High-volume, high-heat tasks: rapidly boiling water for corn or lobster, and supporting a large stockpot for frying.

It exists so you are not tying up grill grate space or carrying a pot of boiling water back indoors.

How much space does it take in the island?

The frame measures 24" W x 22" D x 7" H.

The 7-inch height is shallow, so it can sit above a drawer stack rather than needing a full-depth cabinet under it.

Is it natural gas or propane?

Coyote offers it in both, as C3PBNG for natural gas and C3PBLP for propane.

Check the model designation on the unit you order against your gas supply, because the two are not interchangeable once installed.

Will a heavy stockpot sit stable on it?

Yes. It uses a sturdy cast iron grate designed as a stable base for the largest cookware.

Cast iron is what keeps a full 20-quart pot from shifting, which is the safety issue that matters most at this output.

How is the flame controlled?

With a simple manual control knob for direct flame adjustment.

How is a power burner different from a side burner?

Output and purpose. This one is rated at 30,000 BTUs and built for boiling and frying; the Coyote 12" single side burner is rated at 12,000 BTUs and aimed at simmering, sautéing and keeping dishes warm.

It also takes twice the width, at 24 inches against 12.

Can I use a wok on it?

Coyote offers a wok made for the power burner, which is the intended way to use the high output for stir-frying.

Is it a built-in only, or can it go on a cart?

It is a built-in burner, designed to drop into an outdoor kitchen island alongside your other appliances.

Is there an insulated jacket for it?

Yes. Coyote lists a matching insulated jacket for the built-in power burner, which is the accessory to look at when the island is framed in combustible material.

What is it made of?

Commercial-grade 304 stainless steel, the same grade Coyote uses on its grills.
