Are Primo accessories interchangeable between sizes?

Mostly no. Anything that seats in or over the firebox is cut to that firebox, so deflector plates, searing grates, griddles, pizza ovens, extension racks and firebox dividers are sold per size and an Oval Large part will not seat in an Oval X-Large. A handful of items do span sizes and say so in the title, such as the V rack listed for the Oval X-Large and Large, Junior and Round, the 5-slot rib rack across the same sizes, and the 13-inch baking stones. Read the size in the product title and match it to your grill before ordering.

What do heat deflector plates do, and do I need them?

They sit between the fire and the food and stop the fire radiating straight at what you are cooking, which turns the grill from a direct-heat cooker into an oven. If low-and-slow cooking is any part of why you bought the grill, they are the first accessory to add. The four Oval sizes each take a two-piece set of heat deflector plates, and the Round takes a heat deflector rack instead. Primo also lists combined heat deflector rack and drip pan racks for the Oval sizes if you want to catch drippings at the same time.

What is the difference between an extension rack and a V rack?

An extension rack adds a second cooking level above the main grate, which is how you get more food into the same firebox without crowding it, and Primo lists extension racks for the Oval Junior, Large and X-Large. A V rack holds roasts and poultry at an angle so heat reaches more of the surface, and the Primo V rack is listed as covering the Oval X-Large and Large, Junior and Round. Which baking stone should I buy for pizza?

Match the stone to the firebox shape and size. For the Ovals, Primo lists 13-inch and 16-inch ceramic baking stones in both glazed and natural finishes, plus oval Fredstones cut to the grill: 23 x 16 inch for the Oval X-Large and 18 x 16 inch for the Oval Large. Do the rotisserie kits fit every Primo?

Once a kit is fitted, the rotisserie attachments are shared rather than size-specific: the 3-sided basket, the oval basket and the kebab holder are listed on their own rather than per size. How do I know whether I need a pre-2015 or post-2015 hinge and handle kit?

Primo splits these by manufacturing era as well as by size, so the Oval Large and Oval X-Large kits are each listed in pre-2015 and post-2015 versions, the Round kit is listed as post-2015, and the Oval Junior kit is listed as covering both pre- and post-2015. Getting this wrong means the hardware will not line up. What consumables and maintenance parts will I need over time?

For everyday use there are ash tools, a grate lifter, a combined grate and deflector lifting tool and a grate cleaning bar. The wear item most owners eventually replace is the lid gasket, listed for the Oval X-Large 400 and Large 300, and separately for the Oval Junior 200, Kamado and G420.
