Gifts for Someone Who Already Owns a Grill (2026)

The most useful gift for someone who already owns a grill is usually an accessory made for their exact model. It might be a cover that fits properly, a rotisserie kit, a griddle plate or a smoker tray. It is also the easiest gift to get wrong. Most of these parts are made for one series and size, and nothing below is universal. This guide shows how to find out what they own, then lists the accessories we carry by the grills their manufacturers say they fit.

Step 1: find out exactly which grill they own

You need the brand, the series and the size, and whether it is built into an island or on a cart. The model number gives you all four. Ways to get it without spoiling the surprise:

  • The label on the grill. Gas grills carry a manufacturer's label, usually called the rating or data plate, with the model and serial number. Where it sits varies by brand; the owner's manual shows the location.
  • The paperwork. An order confirmation, invoice or owner's manual will name the model. If they bought it from us, we can look it up. Call us with their name and roughly when they ordered.
  • A photo. A clear picture of the front of the grill with the lid open, plus the label if you can reach it, is often enough for us to identify it.

Why the size on the label is not enough

Nominal size does not match accessories across brands. Some brands even share one part across sizes: the RCS GC30DI cover fits both the 32-inch Premier and the 30-inch Cutlass Pro and Cutlass Elite. And a cart version often takes a different cover from the built-in version of the same grill; Artisan, for example, makes ART-36CV for the built-in and ART-36CVC for the cart. The fuel type (natural gas or propane) does not matter for covers, rotisseries, griddle plates or smoker trays.

Step 2: choose a gift that fits their grill

RCS divides its accessories by series. The Premier and Classic grills take one family of parts and the Cutlass Pro and Cutlass Elite take another, so check which they have first.

A smoker tray is the lowest-cost gift here, and a griddle plate adds the most new cooking. The rotisserie kits are specific to the Premier 32 and Premier 40; we do not currently list a kit for the 26-inch Premier.

Before buying a rotisserie kit for an SL-Series owner, check whether their grill already has one. Coyote lists the kits as compatible with SL grills, but its own SL pages are not consistent on whether SL grills include one. If in doubt, send us the model number and we will check. The wok and teppanyaki plate are made for Coyote's power burner, a separate high-output burner, not for the grill itself. Frequently asked questions

What should I buy someone who already owns a Coyote grill?

A rotisserie kit sized to their grill: C3ROT34 for the C-Series 34, C3ROT36 for a CL or SL 36, C3ROT42 for a CL or SL 42. Check first that an SL grill does not already have one. If they own the Coyote power burner, the CWOK wok or CTEP teppanyaki plate are made for it.

How do I know whether a cover will fit?

Match the model number, not the nominal size, and check whether the grill is built in or on a cart. Every cover in this guide lists the models its manufacturer says it fits. If their grill is not on that list, assume it does not fit until we confirm otherwise.

How do I know whether a rotisserie kit will fit?

Rotisserie kits are made for a specific grill width and series, because the spit length and motor bracket have to match the firebox. Use the model number and the fit column in the tables above, and send it to us if you are unsure.

Are any grill accessories universal?

None of the accessories on this page are. Each is made for particular models, which is why we list them by the grills they fit.

What if I pick the wrong model?

Contact us before the gift is used, and read the return policy first. The simplest way to avoid the problem is to send us the model number or a photo before you order.
