A good grill gift fits the person, their grill and their patio. This guide is built around those three checks. It covers accessories by budget, upgrades for someone who already owns a grill, and freestanding grills, griddles and ovens you can give without planning a build. Every accessory below is matched to the grill models its manufacturer lists it for. Recommendations are our editorial picks; we have not invented reviews or test results to support them.

What can I buy someone who already owns a grill?

A cover, rotisserie kit, griddle plate or smoker tray made for their exact grill model. Find the model number first. Most of these parts are model-specific, and one that fits a 32-inch grill from one brand will not fit a 32-inch grill from another. The guide to gifts for grill owners walks through how to find it.

Are there useful grilling gifts under $250?

Yes: model-matched covers from $90.72, RCS smoker trays from $74, rotisserie kits for RCS Premier grills at $199 and $209, and stainless griddle plates at $184 and $249. The tables below list what each one fits.

Can I give a built-in grill as a Christmas gift?

You can, but it is rarely a surprise that works. A built-in grill needs an island opening cut to that exact model, the right fuel supply and, in most islands, an insulating jacket. For a surprise, a freestanding cart grill, griddle or pizza oven is the safer choice. The section on built-in grills below explains what to confirm first.

Is anything on sale?

Grilling gifts by budget

We have kept the budget lists to accessories whose fit we could confirm against the manufacturer. There are fewer items under $100 than above it. That is because most genuinely useful grill accessories are made for one model, and we would rather list four that fit than twenty that might not.

Under $100

Our pick: a smoker tray for an RCS owner. It adds wood-smoke flavor to a gas grill for less than $100, and RCS makes one tray for the Premier and Classic grills and another for the Cutlass grills. Check which series they own; the two trays are not interchangeable.

Under $250

Our pick: a rotisserie kit or griddle plate. Both change what the grill can cook, not just how it looks. A cover is the practical choice for a grill that lives outside all year, but it has to match whether the grill is built into an island or sits on a cart. Artisan and several other brands make different covers for each.

Under $500

The Coyote 36" and 42" rotisserie kits are available to order, but our system does not track live stock on them. Call 843-212-7209 for a current delivery estimate before you rely on one arriving for a specific date. Before buying a rotisserie for an SL-Series owner, check whether their grill already came with one. Coyote's own pages are not consistent on whether SL grills include the kit.

Gifts for someone who already owns a grill, by brand

Premium gifts: freestanding grills, griddles and ovens

These need no island and no cutout. Each comes on its own cart or stand, and most arrive in propane or natural gas versions. Choose the one that matches the fuel they will actually use. Prices are for the grill with the cart shown on its product page.

Our picks. For someone new to outdoor cooking, the Coyote C-Series 30" on cart at $1,899 is the lowest-priced grill on this list. For someone who already has a gas grill, give them a different way to cook: the Coyote flat top griddle or the hybrid pizza oven. For the most complete grill here, both the Coyote SL-36 and the Summerset TRL Pro 32 come with an infrared rear burner.

On the product pages for the Coyote C-Series 30, SL-36 and flat top griddle, the RCS Premier 26 and the Summerset TRL Pro 32, we checked on 30 September that add-ons such as the matching cover show the 10% SALE price. Adding the cover when you order the grill is the one way to get it discounted.

Thinking about a built-in grill as a gift?

Built-in grills make sense when an outdoor kitchen is already planned or being replaced. They are a poor surprise, because the right model depends on things only the household knows:

• The island opening. Two grills sold as the same size can need openings inches apart. Replacing an existing grill starts from the hole already cut; see the replacement grill cutout finder and the cutout dimensions reference.
• The fuel. Natural gas and propane versions are different products. Buy the one matching the gas supply at the island.
• The island material. A wood-framed or other combustible island usually needs an insulating jacket; see do you need an insulating liner.
• Power and ventilation. Lights and ignition often need a circuit, and a grill under a roof needs a hood sized to it. See the ventilation guide.

Ordering and delivery

Shipping is free to the contiguous United States (the lower 48). Per our shipping policy, an in-stock order ships within one business day once payment is processed, and tracking is emailed within 24 hours of the order leaving the warehouse. Delivery times vary by product and by where the item ships from. We do not publish Christmas cutoff dates.
