When a liner is required, plan the island opening from the specified grill-and-liner installation drawing. Do not fabricate from the grill's advertised width or its unlined cutout. The opening, the jacket's overall size and the grill's nominal size describe different things.

| Measurement | What it describes | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Nominal grill size | The marketed appliance size, such as 30 or 32 inches. | Identify the product family; it is not a fabrication dimension. |
| Liner cutout | The opening specified for installing the jacket. | Coordinate the finished countertop and enclosure opening. |
| Overall jacket dimensions | The exterior size, which may include flange or other projecting parts. | Check layout and surrounding space with the installation drawing. |
Coyote lists the C3JAKTCSL30 jacket for C3C30 and C3SL30 grills. Its manufacturer product page publishes the following dimensions. They are an example for this exact jacket, not a standard for all 30-inch grills.
| C3JAKTCSL30 measurement | Width | Depth | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cutout | 28 1/4 inches | 22 1/8 inches | 11 inches |
| Overall | 30 1/8 inches | 23 inches | 11 inches |
Notice that the published cutout width and the overall width differ. Cutting the hole to the overall width would substitute one specification for another. Before construction, confirm the latest installation drawing for the actual supplied jacket, including support and any other dimensional notes.
Record width, front-to-back depth and usable vertical height. Photograph the countertop edge, cavity and support. If a jacket is still installed, distinguish its interior cavity from the island opening behind it. A flange may hide the finished edge, so your installer may need access before dimensions can be confirmed.
Do not subtract a generic allowance from a liner's outside size. Flanges, supports and installation details vary. Use the exact liner match first, then the corresponding drawing.
Compare the cost and practicality of modifying the enclosure with choosing a different approved appliance-and-jacket combination. Countertop cutting, framing changes and support work are separate tasks. A contractor should assess them before equipment is ordered. A trim strip or adapter may address a visible gap; it does not establish heat protection or manufacturer approval.
There is no universal increase. Compare the two model-specific drawings rather than adding a standard number.
No. Follow the published cutout and installation notes.
Only the manufacturer's instructions establish the permitted installation. Confirm the remaining requirements for the countertop, adjacent surfaces, lid and utilities.
