The Primo GO Portable Top for Oval Junior is the working half of the GO system, and unlike its matching base it is usable on its own: Primo lists it as being used with or without the Primo GO Portable Base, SKU PG00322. That makes this the piece to start with if you are building a portable Junior setup.
On its own it goes wherever there is a solid surface to set it down on. Add the portable base and you have the same grill standing free, with no table needed. The one thing to be clear about is the direction of the dependency: the top works without the base, but the base does not work without the top, so a shopper who buys only the base has bought half a product.
A charcoal grill that travels needs a little planning — fuel and a way to light it, and enough time to let the ceramic settle at temperature before food goes on. That is the same routine as at home, just somewhere else.

Do I need the GO base as well as this top?
Not necessarily. Primo lists this top as usable with or without the Primo GO Portable Base, SKU PG00322, so it functions on its own. Add the base when you want the setup standing free rather than resting on a table or counter. The dependency runs one way: the base needs this top, this top does not need the base.
Which grill does the GO top fit?
The Primo Oval Junior. GO is a Junior-only system, so there is no equivalent for the Large, X-Large, XX-Large or Round. If you are shopping for one of the bigger Ovals, cart bases and cradles are the support options rather than anything in the GO line.
What makes this different from a cart base?
Intent. A cart base is a fixed home for a grill that stays on the patio, with a basket and, on some listings, stainless side shelves. GO is the portable arrangement for the smallest Oval, and it is designed so the top can be used by itself. Choose by whether the grill travels.
Can I set it on a table to cook?
That is exactly what using it without the base means — it needs a solid, level, heat-tolerant surface to sit on. A ceramic charcoal grill runs hot and is heavy for its size, so use something sturdy and non-combustible rather than a folding plastic table, and give it clearance from walls and railings.
Is the grill included?
No. This is the GO portable top only, bought to go with an Oval Junior you own or are ordering separately. A complete portable setup is the grill, this top, and optionally the GO portable base if you want it to stand without furniture underneath.
