How much width does this panel add between cabinets?
6". The panel measures 6" wide by 34-1/2" high including the kick plate and weighs 5 pounds.
That is usually enough to open up counter space above for a grill or a sink, or to absorb a gap where the cabinet widths do not add up to the island opening.
Should I order the back panel too?
Order the 6" back panel, item SCC6SPB, any time the island is not against a wall and the rear of the cabinets is visible. Against a wall, the front panel alone is enough.
Will it take a bull-nose counter?
Yes. It comes with the bottom kick plate and the top counter rail found on every Sunstone cabinet, which is what lets a full bull-nose counter run across the spacer without a break.
Are tools required to install it?
None. Align two opposing cabinets, lift the panel, drop it into the space between them and push down to lock the pins.
Is there a narrower version?
There is. The 3" spacer panel is the same 34-1/2" height and 304 stainless #4 brushed finish, at half the width and 3 pounds.
