Broilmaster FAQs

Who makes Broilmaster grills?

Broilmaster is a registered trademark of Empire Comfort Systems, Inc. of Belleville, Illinois. Empire purchased the manufacturing rights to Broilmaster in 2002 and has produced the line since. NorthwoodsGrills is a family-owned retailer in Charleston, South Carolina, and an authorized dealer. Call us at 843-212-7209.

Where are Broilmaster grills made?

Empire's wording is that its products are assembled at the company's two manufacturing facilities in Belleville, Illinois. That is the accurate description: assembled in Belleville, Illinois. We do not describe Broilmaster with any broader origin claim than the manufacturer makes itself.

Is Broilmaster the same as Broil King?

No. Broilmaster and Broil King are two different, unrelated companies, and the similar names cause constant confusion. Broilmaster is made by Empire Comfort Systems in Belleville, Illinois. Broil King is made by Onward Manufacturing Company Limited of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The designs are different, the warranties are different and the replacement parts are not interchangeable. Before ordering parts, check which name is actually on your grill. Our Broil King FAQs cover that brand separately.

What is the Broilmaster bow-tie burner?

The bow-tie burner is Broilmaster's signature design and the feature the brand is best known for. It is Broilmaster's own engineering, not a generic part, and it is the reason many long-time Broilmaster owners stay with the brand when they replace a grill. You can see it called out on the Broilmaster P3SX with 40,000 BTU bowtie burner.

What Broilmaster series are there?

  • Premium Series cast aluminum grills: P3X, P3XF, the Super Premium P3SX, P4X, P4XF, H3X, R3 and R3B
  • B Series stainless steel grills
  • G Series stainless steel grills, such as the BSG343
  • Specialty and Slow Cooker: the Q3X
  • Stainless griddles
  • Charcoal: the C3

The most important distinction for warranty purposes is whether your model has a cast aluminum housing or a stainless steel housing, because Empire publishes different coverage for each. Check the specification on the individual product page, or call us at 843-212-7209 and we will confirm before you order.

What does the Broilmaster warranty cover on the premium gas grills?

For Broilmaster's premium gas grills, Empire publishes:

  • Lifetime on the aluminum grill housing (paint excluded) and on stainless cooking grids
  • 10 years on stainless steel burners for the H-Series, Q-Series and R3B
  • 5 years on infrared burners for the R3 and R3B, ceramic flavor enhancers and painted components
  • 2 years on porcelain-coated steel racks and the chrome-plated warming rack
  • 1 year on valves, knobs, ignitors, grease cups and the paint on the aluminum head

What does the warranty cover on the stainless BSG grills?

  • Lifetime on stainless housings, cooking grids and cast stainless burners
  • 5 years on flare-control vaporizers, heat zone dividers and infrared burners
  • 1 year on valves, knobs, ignitors, labels, hoses and fittings

Note that these are two separate warranty schedules. Confirm which applies to your model before you assume coverage. General notes are on our warranty information page.

Is Broilmaster a good brand?

Broilmaster's appeal is longevity and serviceability. The cast aluminum housings carry a lifetime warranty and hold up well outdoors, the bow-tie burner is a proven design, and parts remain available for grills that are decades old. It is not a fashion brand and it does not chase feature counts. If you want a grill you will still be cooking on in fifteen years and you value repairability over the newest control panel, Broilmaster is worth a serious look.

Should I buy the built-in or the freestanding cart version?

Both are available. Choose the built-in head if you are dropping the grill into a masonry or framed island, and the cart if you want a self-contained grill you can position and use immediately.

Compare against other brands in built-in grills and cart grills.

Should I order natural gas or propane?

Order natural gas only if you already have a gas line at the grill location and it is correctly sized for the appliance. Natural gas means you never refill a tank, but the grill stays put. Propane lets you place the grill anywhere at the cost of swapping tanks. Broilmaster grills are configured for one fuel, so confirm the fuel on the listing before ordering. Browse by fuel across brands in natural gas cart grills and propane cart grills, or see the full range in natural gas and propane grills.

Can I smoke on a Broilmaster gas grill?

You can add real wood smoke to a gas grill with a smoker box. The Broilmaster 8" cast iron smoker box with vented lid sits on the grates, holds wood chips and vents smoke into the cook chamber. Cast iron holds heat better than thin stainless boxes, so the chips smolder rather than flaring off. For dedicated low-and-slow cooking, a pellet or ceramic cooker is a better tool: see pellet grills and Primo ceramic charcoal grills.

What accessories should I buy with a Broilmaster grill?

A cover first, because it protects the finish and the control panel from Lowcountry sun and salt air; see grill covers. After that, an instant-read thermometer, a sturdy grill brush and a griddle plate if you cook breakfast outdoors. Browse grilling accessories and griddles.

How much do Broilmaster grills cost?

Prices change, so shop by tier rather than by a figure printed on an FAQ page. Broilmaster cart grills generally land in the range covered by cart grills $2,000-$3,000, with larger and stainless models reaching cart grills $3,000+. Shipping is free and we do not add credit card fees. Our price guarantee applies.

Which brands should I cross-shop against Broilmaster?

In cart grills, compare against Broil King, Summerset, TrueFlame and Bonfire. If you are building an outdoor kitchen rather than buying a rolling grill, look at built-in heads from American Outdoor Grills, RCS or Blaze.

What Broilmaster models do you currently stock?

We list a focused selection of Broilmaster rather than the full catalog. See what is currently available in the Broilmaster collection. If you want a model or a replacement part you do not see listed, call 843-212-7209 or send us a quote request and we will tell you what we can source from Empire.

Does NorthwoodsGrills build Broilmaster grills?

No. NorthwoodsGrills is a family-owned retailer in Charleston, South Carolina, and an authorized dealer. We do not manufacture, weld or assemble anything we sell. Broilmaster grills are produced by Empire Comfort Systems and carry Empire's warranty. What we do is help you choose the right model, ship it free, and never charge a credit card fee.
