The XX-Large is the size people buy for volume — several pork shoulders at once, a whole packer brisket, or a rib rack loaded end to end. Volume cooking is what fills up work surface fastest. Will this fit my Primo Oval XX-Large?
Yes — the XX-Large is the only grill this cart is listed for. It is not a fit for the Oval X-Large, which uses its own cart, and it will not take a Large, Junior or Round. The XX-Large is Primo's biggest Oval and its supports are made specifically for it, so size matching matters more here than anywhere.
What does this include that the plain XX-Large cart base does not?
The stainless steel side shelves. The Primo Cart Base with Basket for Oval XX-Large is the same cart with no surfaces attached, so it is the cheaper starting point if you already have somewhere to work beside the grill. This listing saves you buying the two things separately.
Can I add side shelves to an XX-Large cart later?
The separate shelf sets in our Primo range are made for the Junior cart and the X-Large and Large cart. For the XX-Large, this combined listing is the straightforward way to get a cart with shelves, so decide before you buy rather than planning to bolt surfaces on afterwards.
Should I get this cart or the cradle and side tables?
Both hold the XX-Large and both give you surface on either side. The cradle and side tables is the simpler structure, while the cart listing names a basket as part of it. If you want storage under the grill as well as a stand, the cart is the one to take.
Why does a grill this big still need side shelves?
Because the amount you cook on it scales with the firebox. Big cooks mean large trays, foil, sauce, probes and racks all in play at once, plus a hot grate or deflector plates that have to go somewhere when you rearrange the fire. Surface next to the lid keeps all of that out of the dirt.
