The Primo Cast Iron Firebox Divider for the Oval Large is a single cast iron piece that partitions the Large's firebox so charcoal burns in one section instead of across the whole thing.
Primo's Oval models use an oval firebox rather than a round one, which gives a longer cooking bed and makes two-zone cooking straightforward: coals banked at one end, indirect heat at the other. The divider is what holds that arrangement in place rather than leaving you to rake charcoal and hope it stays where you put it. In practice it means you can sear over the fire and then slide food along the grate to finish out of the flame, on one grill, without opening things up and rebuilding the fire halfway through.
It works well alongside the Primo Half Drip Pan Oval Large on the unlit side, and with the Primo Heat Deflector Plates for Oval Large when you want the whole grate shielded. Add the Primo Precision Control Kit for the Large if you are chasing a steady temperature over a long cook. Cut for the Primo Oval Large ceramic charcoal grill.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this divider fit my Primo Oval Large?
Yes. It is made for the Oval Large firebox and is not interchangeable with the Junior, X-Large or XX-Large versions. Each size gets its own divider because the fireboxes differ, so check the size name on the listing against your grill.
Why would I burn charcoal in only part of the firebox?
Because most cooks do not need a full fire. A smaller charcoal load comes up to temperature faster, burns less fuel and leaves you an unlit section that acts as a cool zone. It also means you are not left with a grill running hot for hours after a twenty-minute cook.
Is this one piece or two?
One. The Oval Large divider is a single cast iron piece and that is the complete part. There is no second half to order and nothing to put together before it goes into the firebox. The deflector plates and rack for this same grill are two-piece listings, so do not assume the counts match across a basket.
Can I use the divider and a heat deflector at the same time?
Yes, and it is a common setup. The divider controls where the fire burns and how big it is; the deflector blocks the heat coming off it. Running both gives you a small, contained fire and a grate that never sees direct flame.
Will a divider save me charcoal?
It should, on any cook that does not need the full firebox. Lighting one section rather than the whole box means less fuel burning, and the unlit charcoal on the other side is still there for next time rather than being consumed along the way.
Let customers speak for us
I absolutely love my Coyote gas grill! The quality is excellent, it looks beautiful, and I’m very happy with my purchase.
I also want to give a special thank you to Ryan at Northwoods Grills. He was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. Before my grill even arrived, he took the time to help me with measurements and answered all of my questions to make sure everything would fit properly. He was always very attentive, patient, friendly, and easy to communicate with. His customer service really made a difference and made the whole experience so much easier for me.
It’s not often that you receive this level of personal attention and customer service. I truly appreciate all of Ryan’s help and would absolutely recommend Northwoods Grills. Great product and outstanding customer service!

Best pricing available for the product (checked all other on line retailers), and Ryan provided excellent responsiveness during the sales process. Loved dealing directly with the owner vs a sales person.
Delivery was completed within a week of the order and Ryan stayed in touch with consistent follow-up to ensure the products met my expectations.
Will recommend to friends / others looking for a high-end built in grill and matching cabinets.
