The Primo Cast Iron Firebox Divider for the Oval XX-Large is the cast iron partition that splits the firebox on the biggest Primo Oval, so charcoal burns where you want it and not across the entire box.
The larger the firebox, the more there is to gain from not lighting all of it. On the XX-Large a full load is a serious amount of charcoal, and there is no reason to burn it for a rack of chicken thighs. With the divider in, you light one section, come to temperature on less fuel, and keep the remainder of the box clear as a landing zone for anything that needs to come off the heat. Cast iron handles sitting directly in the fire, which is the whole job here.
Add the Primo Half Drip Pan Oval XX-Large above the unlit section for drippings, and the Primo Heat Deflector Plates for Oval XX-Large on the Primo Heat Deflector Rack/Drip Pan Rack for Oval XX-Large when the cook calls for a fully shielded grate. Fits the Primo Oval XX-Large ceramic charcoal grill.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this divider fit my Primo Oval XX-Large?
Yes, it is cut for the Oval XX-Large firebox and fits that grill. Dividers are not shared between Primo sizes, so the XX-Large part is the one to buy if that is the grill you own, and nothing smaller will do the job.
Why bother dividing a firebox this large?
Because you rarely need all of it. A big box lit end to end burns a lot of charcoal and holds heat long after the food is off. Sectioning it lets you scale the fire to the cook, which makes the XX-Large practical for a weeknight dinner as well as a full weekend load.
Can I use this with the XX-Large heat deflector plates?
Yes, and the combination covers both halves of fire control. The divider decides where the charcoal burns; the Primo Heat Deflector Plates for Oval XX-Large stop that fire's heat from radiating onto the food. Together they give you a small, contained fire and a shielded cooking surface.
Does a divider help with fuel use?
It does on any cook smaller than the full grill. You light one section instead of the whole box, so less charcoal is burning at any point, and the unlit fuel on the other side stays available for the next cook rather than being used up needlessly.
Will an X-Large divider fit the XX-Large?
No. The XX-Large firebox is its own size and the X-Large divider will not partition it correctly, which leaves gaps for the fire to spread through and defeats the point. Match the divider to the grill named on the listing.
Let customers speak for us
I absolutely love my Coyote gas grill! The quality is excellent, it looks beautiful, and I’m very happy with my purchase.
I also want to give a special thank you to Ryan at Northwoods Grills. He was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. Before my grill even arrived, he took the time to help me with measurements and answered all of my questions to make sure everything would fit properly. He was always very attentive, patient, friendly, and easy to communicate with. His customer service really made a difference and made the whole experience so much easier for me.
It’s not often that you receive this level of personal attention and customer service. I truly appreciate all of Ryan’s help and would absolutely recommend Northwoods Grills. Great product and outstanding customer service!

Best pricing available for the product (checked all other on line retailers), and Ryan provided excellent responsiveness during the sales process. Loved dealing directly with the owner vs a sales person.
Delivery was completed within a week of the order and Ryan stayed in touch with consistent follow-up to ensure the products met my expectations.
Will recommend to friends / others looking for a high-end built in grill and matching cabinets.
