The Primo Extension Rack for the Oval Junior adds a second tier of cooking space above the main grate. Nothing about the grill changes; you simply get a level you did not have, and the food that would have been waiting its turn goes on now.
On the Junior this matters more than on any other size, because the Junior is where people run out of room first. A second tier turns one grate into two working levels, and because the upper level sits further from the coals it runs gentler on a direct fire. That makes it the natural place for anything that needs to finish slowly, be kept warm, or stay out of the hottest part of the cook while the main grate does the searing.

Will this extension rack fit my Primo Oval Junior?
Yes, it is made for the Oval Junior. Primo lists an extension rack for each Oval size it supports, and they are not shared between models, so the size word in the title is what determines fit. Buy the Junior rack for a Junior grill.
What does an extension rack actually give me?
A second tier of cooking surface above the main grate. It is capacity without a bigger grill: two levels of food over one fire, which is the difference between cooking a meal in one pass and cooking it in two. On the smallest Oval, that is the single most useful thing you can add.
Is the upper tier cooler than the main grate?
On a direct fire, yes, because it sits further from the coals. That makes it the right place for food you want to finish gently, hold warm, or keep clear of the fiercest heat. On a low indirect cook the two levels are much closer together in behaviour.
Can I use it with a griddle on the main level?
That is one of the better reasons to own one. A griddle takes over the whole main level, so without a second tier the rest of the meal has to wait. With the rack in place you can griddle underneath and keep bread, vegetables or already-cooked food above it.
Does it stay in the grill permanently?
It does not need to. Most people put it in when a cook calls for the space and take it out again afterwards, since a clear main grate is easier to work on for everyday grilling. Treat it as something you fit for the cook rather than a permanent fixture.
