The Primo 2-Piece Island Top for Oval X-Large and Large is the surface that turns a Primo cart into an island, and it requires the Primo Cart Base with Basket, SKU PG00368. It is not a stand: without that cart underneath it, there is nothing to mount it to.
It covers both the Oval X-Large and the Oval Large, the same pair the cart itself is listed for, so one top serves either grill. The listing is a two-piece top, and both pieces come with it.
The choice worth thinking through is island top versus side shelves, since both mount to that same cart. Shelves give you two separate surfaces on either side of the grill and keep the setup light and open. An island top closes the whole thing up into a continuous working surface around the cooker, which looks like built-in cabinetry and gives you more room to lay things out — useful when a cook involves trays, wrapping, and a hot deflector plate that has to go somewhere.

Do I need the Primo cart base to use this island top?
Yes. This top is listed as requiring the Primo Cart Base with Basket, SKU PG00368, and it mounts onto that cart. It is a surface, not a support, so a shopper who buys it without the cart cannot install it. If you are starting from nothing, order the cart and the top together.
Which grills does it fit?
The Oval X-Large and the Oval Large. One island top covers both, which mirrors the cart base underneath it — that cart is listed for the same two sizes. It is not made for the Oval Junior, the Round or the Oval XX-Large, none of which have an island top in the range.
What does two-piece mean — is that two separate purchases?

Island top or side shelves — which should I buy?
Both fit the same cart base, so pick one. Stainless side shelves are the lighter, cheaper route and give you a surface on each side. The island top is the finished-looking option, closing the cart into a continuous surround, and it is what people choose when the grill is a feature of the patio.
Is there an island top for the XX-Large or the Junior?
Not in our Primo range. Island tops are listed for the X-Large and Large only, in this standard version and a Jack Daniel's Edition. For the XX-Large or the Junior, the equivalent way to get surface is a cart base with stainless steel side shelves, or a cypress table for that size.
Will my existing grill cover still fit once the top is on?
Probably not, because the covered shape changes. Primo lists a cover for an Oval X-Large or Large with island top specifically for this configuration, which is the one to use rather than a cover sold for a bare grill or a plain cart.
