What size cutout does the TF-DC2-33M-A need?

Frame an opening 30 3/4" wide by 19 1/2" deep by 19 1/2" high. The unit itself is 32.36" wide, 20.5" deep and 21.5" high, so the face overlaps the opening on every side.

TrueFlame lists it for masonry islands with a 30" to 34 7/8" wide opening, which gives you some room to place the cutout within a wider run.

What does the 1-inch masonry return do?

What can I reach through the access door?
