The American Made Grills Alturi 42" U-Tube Built-In Gas Grill (ALT42T) is the design-forward built-in in the American Made Grills lineup — luxury gas grilling in a refined footprint, built entirely in the USA from #304 stainless steel at the factory in Bohemia, New York. It runs U-shaped 304 stainless main burners, and an infrared back burner handles rotisserie work. The "T" in ALT42T is the U-tube stainless burner, which is what separates Alturi from the cast red brass burners in the Estate series above it.
Forty-two inches buys grate real estate: the wider grate means a genuinely usable cool end while the other end runs hot — exactly what thick cuts and staged service need.
Under the grates sits a ceramic briquette flame tamer system rather than the steel tamers used elsewhere in the range. Ceramic holds heat and re-radiates it, which evens out the hot line directly over each burner and vaporizes drippings instead of letting them pool. Stainless heat zone separators come with the grill so you can run genuinely different temperatures side by side.
Alturi is the series where the lighting is the signature. Angle-mounted interior halogen lights wash the grate from corner to corner rather than throwing a hot spot down the middle, and the control knobs are LED backlit so you can read your settings at night. A double-lined, spring-assisted hood holds wherever you leave it, a 3" analog thermometer reads hood temperature, and flame thrower ignition with a manual flash-tube backup lights the burners without batteries.

What do I gain by going to 42 inches instead of 36?
Width. The ALT42T gives you a wider grate than the 36-inch model.
That extra width is what gives you a genuinely cool end while the other end runs hot, which is what thick cuts and staged service need. If you would rather save the island width, the Alturi 36 is the same grill in a narrower body.
What are the cutout dimensions?

The finished grill measures 42 inches wide, 29.36 inches deep and 25.484 inches tall and weighs 257 pounds, so the framing around that opening carries real load.
Is there a back burner for rotisserie cooking?
Yes, an infrared back burner is fitted. The rotisserie kit is bought separately, and the kit for the Alturi 42 is the matching one.
What flame tamer system does it use?
Ceramic briquettes rather than the steel tamers used elsewhere in the American Made Grills range. Ceramic stores heat and gives it back evenly, and it vaporizes drippings on contact.
Are heat zone separators included?
They are. Stainless separators come with the grill, which on a grate this wide means you can genuinely run a hot end, a middle and a resting end at the same time.
Can I cook on it at night?
Yes. Interior halogen lights are angle-mounted to light the grate evenly rather than throwing a hot spot down the middle, and each control knob is LED backlit.
How does the hood behave?
