It runs 3 U-shaped 304 stainless main burners at 26,000 BTU each — 78,000 BTUs across 777 square inches of main grate, plus a 306 square inch secondary rack for 1083 square inches total. A 12,000 BTU infrared back burner handles rotisserie work. The "T" in ALT42T is the U-tube stainless burner, which is what separates Alturi from the cast red brass burners in the Estate series above it.
Forty-two inches buys grate real estate rather than more burners. The same three 26,000 BTU burners spread across 777 square inches of main grate instead of 660, which means a genuinely usable cool end while the other end runs hot — exactly what thick cuts and staged service need.
Under the grates sits a ceramic briquette flame tamer system rather than the steel tamers used elsewhere in the range. Ceramic holds heat and re-radiates it, which evens out the hot line directly over each burner and vaporizes drippings instead of letting them pool. Stainless heat zone separators come with the grill so you can run genuinely different temperatures side by side.
Alturi is the series where the lighting is the signature. Angle-mounted interior halogen lights wash the grate from corner to corner rather than throwing a hot spot down the middle, and the control knobs are LED backlit so you can read your settings at night. What do I gain by going to 42 inches instead of 36?
Grate area, not burners. The ALT42T runs the same three 26,000 BTU U-tube burners as the 36-inch model but spreads them across 777 square inches of main grate instead of 660.
That extra width is what gives you a genuinely cool end while the other end runs hot, which is what thick cuts and staged service need. If you would rather save the island width, the Alturi 36 is the same grill in a narrower body.
What are the cutout dimensions?
40.5 inches wide by 23-1/16 inches deep by 10-3/16 inches high.
The finished grill measures 42 inches wide, 29.36 inches deep and 25.484 inches tall and weighs 257 pounds, so the framing around that opening carries real load.
