What burners does the Atlas 42 use?

18,000 BTU U-tube burners in #304 stainless steel, sitting beneath an easy-clean briquette system that spreads their heat and absorbs flare-ups.

At 42 inches this is the widest grill in the Atlas range, so the burner run covers a grate you can genuinely cook a crowd on.

What comes in the box?

A weather-proof vinyl grill head cover, a removable dishwasher-safe drip tray, and two multi-position warming racks.

The cover being included matters on a built-in, because the head is exposed the moment the island is finished.

How do the warming racks work?

There are two of them and both are multi-position, so you can set them at different heights or pull them out entirely when you want the full grate.

The grill also has dedicated warming rack storage, so the racks live with the grill rather than in the garage.

What grates does it cook on?

Heavy-duty 8mm square stainless steel grates. The square profile holds its shape under heat and leaves proper grill marks.

Is the hood insulated?

It is an 18-gauge double-lined hood with a full-width stainless handle. Double lining keeps more heat inside the firebox and gives the lid the rigidity a 42-inch span needs.

Does the ignition use batteries?

No. The ATS42-B lights with flame thrower ignition, which needs no batteries.

Can I see what I am doing at night?

Yes. Interior halogen cooking lights cover the grate and there is an LED light over each control knob.

What accessories can I add to it?

Is there a freestanding version?

Yes. The Atlas 42 is offered as a built-in head or on a cart, so if the island is not being built yet you can put the same grill on the Atlas 42 cart.

The drip tray pulls out and goes in the dishwasher, and the briquette system is designed for easy cleaning rather than being sealed into the firebox.

Is it natural gas or propane?

Available as either. Pick the fuel at order time so the grill arrives set up for your gas supply.
