Model and Installation Information

This is model ARTP-42, supplied as a built-in grill head that drops into an island opening — there is no cart or base. The opening is 40-1/2" wide by 19-3/4" deep by 9-1/2" high, and the head measures 42" wide and 26-5/16" deep front to back. Measure your island opening against those figures before ordering or before the island is built, rather than assuming a 42" head drops into a 42" hole, and confirm them against the ARTP-42 spec sheet before any masonry goes in.

Pay particular attention to depth. The rear infrared burner adds depth at the back, and that is the dimension retrofits into an existing island most often get caught out by. Call us if you are fitting the ARTP-42 into an opening originally built for a smaller head, and we will work through the numbers with you before anything is cut.

The 110V electronic ignition means the island needs an outlet as well as a gas line, since the halogen work light and the LED control panel lighting draw from the same supply — plan the electrical rough-in alongside the gas. Natural gas and propane are two separately built configurations, so confirm the supply at your island and order the matching fuel type rather than planning to convert the grill afterwards.

Size the gas supply from Artisan's nominal 75,000 BTU rating, the figure that appears on the specification drawing. Artisan also publishes a certified total rated input for the appliance under ANSI Z21.58 / CSA 1.6, and on the ARTP-42 the two coincide at 75,000 BTU/hr. Whichever figure you quote, the rating and orifice size for the individual grill you receive are printed on its serial plate, as the use and care manual above directs.

Choose the ARTP-42 when you are cooking for a crowd and want room to work. It produces the same 75,000 BTUs as the Professional 36, so the reason to step up is grate area, not power: 42 inches of surface across three burners gives you space to hold a genuine cool zone alongside a hot one, or to run a full load of food without shuffling it. That suits large family cooking, entertaining, and anyone who wants to slow-roast on the rear infrared rotisserie burner while the front grates stay free. It needs a wide island to accept it, so it is a grill to plan an outdoor kitchen around rather than one to retrofit into an opening sized for a smaller head.
