Designed as a direct replacement for an existing burner, it drops right into place so you can add searing power without a whole new grill. Which grills does the TF-IRB fit?
TrueFlame TF Series grills only. It goes in at an existing burner position, so it is not a universal part you can move to another brand's grill.
You can confirm your model against the TrueFlame built-in grill range before ordering.
Does it add a burner or take the place of one?
It replaces one. The sear burner is a direct swap for an existing burner in the grill, which means you trade a conventional burner position for an infrared one rather than gaining an extra.
How does it go in?
TrueFlame describes it as plug-and-play: it drops into the burner position already in the grill. Check which position you want to give up before you start, since that spot becomes your dedicated sear zone.
What are its dimensions and weight?
7" wide, 16.5" deep, 2.5" high, and about 6 pounds. Measure the burner bay it is replacing against those numbers.
What does an infrared burner do that a standard burner does not?
It delivers intense, even high heat aimed at the surface of the food, which is what puts a crust on a steak in minutes rather than drying it out over a longer cook.
That makes it a searing tool specifically. Chops and burgers benefit the same way; low-and-slow cooking is still a job for the standard burners.
Will it survive the heat it produces?
It is built from stainless steel chosen for the extreme temperatures infrared searing reaches. That is the reason the unit weighs 6 pounds for its size.
