What can I actually cook on a 60,000 BTU power burner?

Wok cooking, stir-fry, seafood boils, frying and searing. The TFPB puts 60,000 BTUs through dual cast stainless steel ring burners, which is the output range you need for a full crawfish pot or a wok that stays hot when the food goes in.

It is deliberately more burner than a saucepan needs, so it is a complement to a side burner rather than a replacement for one.

Should I get this or the double side burner?

Choose the TFPB when a single very high output position is what you are missing. The TFSB2 double side burner gives you two independently controlled rings totalling 24,000 BTUs instead, which is better for running two ordinary pots side by side.

The TFPB also needs a wider cutout at 14" against the TFSB2's 10.75", so the island layout can decide it for you.
