American Made Grills Encore 54" Hybrid Built-In Grill

The American Made Grills Encore 54" Hybrid Built-In Grill (ENC54) is a true multi-fuel grill: it runs on gas, on charcoal or hardwood, or on both at once. Built entirely in the USA from #304 stainless steel, the Hybrid platform gives you live-fire flavor without giving up the convenience of turning a knob. The Encore face brings clean, restrained styling that lets the outdoor kitchen around it do the talking. See how it lines up against the rest of our American Made Grills built-in grills.

Power comes from 8 main burners rated at 22,000 BTU each, for 176,000 BTUs total. The burners are formed from 14-gauge #304 stainless steel and protected by 12-gauge #304 burner covers. Heat zone separators hold genuinely distinct temperature zones across the grate, and reversible 9-gauge V-shaped cooking grates flip between a flat searing face and classic V-channel grilling.

The patented 14-gauge hybrid fuel trays are the heart of the system. They sit directly above the gas burners, so you use the burners to light charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal, or wood chunks — then cook over live coals with gas assist, or shut the gas off entirely. A 16-gauge double-lined hood with spring assist, full-width #304 handle, and adjustable hood vents give you the airflow control that solid-fuel cooking actually needs.

Fifty-four inches is a commercial-scale cooking surface in a residential grill. Eight burners and 1,687 square inches means you can run charcoal across half the grate and still have a full 27-inch gas grill on the other side. Plan the island around it early — a 53-1/4 inch cutout drives the whole layout, and it needs a genuine landing zone on both sides to be usable.

The Encore face is the quiet one in the Hybrid lineup — a flat, uninterrupted front panel and full-width handle with no ornamentation. If your island is already doing something visually interesting in stone or tile, this is the grill that complements it instead of competing with it. With 1,687 square inches of total cooking surface, interior halogen cooking lights, LED-illuminated knobs, flame thrower ignition, a rotisserie back burner with built-in spit storage, and an easy-clean drip pan with drain system, the Encore 54" is built for real entertaining. Every unit is built, factory tested and serviced in Long Island, New York, tested to ANSI Z21.58 / CGA 1.6, and backed by the American Made Grills Gold Standard warranty with 100% non-prorated replacement parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big an opening does the ENC54 need?

53-1/4 inches wide, 25 inches deep and 15 inches high. Plan the island around that number early, because at this width the cutout drives the whole layout.

The grill head measures 54.75 inches wide, 33.25 inches deep and 33 inches tall overall, and it needs a real landing zone on both sides to be usable.

How much grill is 1,687 square inches?

Enough to run charcoal across half the grate and still have a full 27 inches of gas grilling on the other side. It is a commercial-scale cooking surface in a residential unit.

What is the burner configuration?

Eight main burners at 22,000 BTU each, 176,000 BTUs in total. Each is formed from 14-gauge #304 stainless steel and protected by a 12-gauge #304 burner cover.

How does the charcoal and wood side work?

Patented 14-gauge #304 fuel trays sit directly over the gas burners. You load briquettes, lump charcoal or wood chunks, light them with the burners, then either keep the gas on for assist or turn it off and cook on coals alone.

What grates does it use?

Reversible 9-gauge V-shaped stainless steel grates, flat searing face on one side and V-channel on the other.

Can I dial in the airflow when burning wood?

Yes. The 16-gauge double-lined hood has adjustable vents, and it is spring assisted so it holds position. Heat zone separators keep the temperature zones from bleeding into one another.

What clearance does it need from combustible framing?

15 inches at the sides and rear, which a grill liner can reduce. Check those distances against your island drawings, and see the grill liner options if your framing is combustible.

What gas pressure does it run on?

4.0 in. WC on natural gas, 11 in. WC on propane. The unit is tested to ANSI Z21.58 / CGA 1.6.

What comes with the grill?

A deluxe vinyl grill head cover, a 100 lb rotisserie kit, a stainless griddle plate, a drop-in infrared sear burner, grate lifting tools, a leather glove set, a wood and charcoal fuel kit, and a cleaning care kit.

Is there anything to finish the rest of the island?

The Encore line includes matching burners, such as the Encore power burner, so the front faces line up across the run.

What does the Encore face look like next to the other Hybrid models?

Flat and unornamented, with a full-width handle. It is the quiet option in the Hybrid lineup, meant to complement an island rather than compete with it.

Do the lights and ignition need power or batteries?

The flame thrower ignition needs no batteries. Interior halogen cooking lights and the LED lights over each knob are electrical, so the island needs a power supply for those.
