The American Made Grills Encore 36" Hybrid Built-In Grill (ENC36) is a true multi-fuel grill: it runs on gas, on charcoal or hardwood, or on both at once. Built entirely in the USA from #304 stainless steel, the Hybrid platform gives you live-fire flavor without giving up the convenience of turning a knob. The Encore face brings clean, restrained styling that lets the outdoor kitchen around it do the talking. See how it lines up against the rest of our American Made Grills built-in grills.
Power comes from 5 main burners rated at 22,000 BTU each, for 110,000 BTUs total. The burners are formed from 14-gauge #304 stainless steel and protected by 12-gauge #304 burner covers. Heat zone separators hold genuinely distinct temperature zones across the grate, and reversible 9-gauge V-shaped cooking grates flip between a flat searing face and classic V-channel grilling.
The patented 14-gauge hybrid fuel trays are the heart of the system. They sit directly above the gas burners, so you use the burners to light charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal, or wood chunks — then cook over live coals with gas assist, or shut the gas off entirely. A 16-gauge double-lined hood with spring assist, full-width #304 handle, and adjustable hood vents give you the airflow control that solid-fuel cooking actually needs.
At 36 inches this is the volume size in the Hybrid range, and the one that fits the widest variety of island layouts. Five burners across a 35-inch cutout gives you enough width to run a genuine three-zone setup — solid fuel on one side, gas in the middle, an empty resting zone on the end — without the grill dominating a patio that also has to hold a table.
The Encore face is the quiet one in the Hybrid lineup — a flat, uninterrupted front panel and full-width handle with no ornamentation. If your island is already doing something visually interesting in stone or tile, this is the grill that complements it instead of competing with it. With 1,106 square inches of total cooking surface, interior halogen cooking lights, LED-illuminated knobs, flame thrower ignition, a rotisserie back burner with built-in spit storage, and an easy-clean drip pan with drain system, the Encore 36" is built for real entertaining. Every unit is built, factory tested and serviced in Long Island, New York, tested to ANSI Z21.58 / CGA 1.6, and backed by the American Made Grills Gold Standard warranty with 100% non-prorated replacement parts.

Frequently Asked Questions
It means the ENC36 cooks on gas, on charcoal or hardwood, or on both at the same time. Patented 14-gauge #304 fuel trays sit directly above the gas burners, so the burners light the solid fuel for you.
Once the coals or wood chunks are going you can leave the gas on for assist or shut it off entirely and cook over live fire.
Charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal or wood chunks. The trays are built from 14-gauge #304 stainless steel, which is what lets them take direct contact with burning fuel.
Five main burners rated 22,000 BTU each, for 110,000 BTUs total. They are formed from 14-gauge #304 stainless steel and shielded by 12-gauge #304 burner covers.
35 inches wide by 25 inches deep by 15 inches high. Note the depth and height: the Hybrid body is deeper and taller than a conventional gas-only grill head, so an island designed around a standard cutout will not take this grill.
Overall the unit measures 37 inches wide, 33.25 inches deep and 33 inches high.
1,106 square inches in total. Across a 35-inch cutout, five burners give you enough width for a true three-zone setup: solid fuel at one end, gas in the middle, an empty resting zone at the other end.
Reversible 9-gauge V-shaped stainless grates. Flip them one way for a flat searing face, the other way for classic V-channel grilling.
Yes. The 16-gauge double-lined hood has adjustable vents and spring assist, and heat zone separators divide the grate into distinct temperature zones. Airflow control is not optional once you are burning wood, which is why the vents are there.
15 inches at the sides and rear. That distance can be reduced with a grill liner, so check your island framing against those figures before you build. Browse grill liners to see what fits.
4.0 inches water column for natural gas and 11 inches water column for propane. Give those numbers to whoever runs the gas line.
The grill is tested to ANSI Z21.58 / CGA 1.6, and every unit is built, factory tested and serviced in Long Island, New York.
A deluxe vinyl grill head cover, a 100 lb capacity rotisserie kit, a stainless steel griddle plate, a drop-in infrared sear burner, grate lifting tools, a leather glove set, a fuel kit with wood and charcoal, and a cleaning care kit.
The rotisserie back burner in the grill has built-in spit storage, so the rotisserie hardware stays with the unit.
It is the restrained one: a flat, uninterrupted front panel and full-width handle with no ornamentation. If the island is already doing something visually interesting in stone or tile, this is the face that stays out of its way.
No. The Encore 54 runs the same hybrid fuel tray system with eight burners. The 36 is the size that fits the widest variety of island layouts without dominating a patio that also has to hold a table.
