The American Made Grills Alturi 36" U-Tube Built-In Gas Grill (ALT36T) is the design-forward built-in in the American Made Grills lineup — luxury gas grilling in a refined footprint, built entirely in the USA from #304 stainless steel at the factory in Bohemia, New York. It runs 3 U-shaped 304 stainless main burners at 26,000 BTU each — 78,000 BTUs across 660 square inches of main grate, plus a 260 square inch secondary rack for 920 square inches total. A 12,000 BTU infrared back burner handles rotisserie work. The "T" in ALT36T is the U-tube stainless burner, which is what separates Alturi from the cast red brass burners in the Estate series above it.
Thirty-six inches is the volume size of the range and the one most outdoor kitchens are drawn around. The third burner turns two-zone cooking into three-zone cooking — sear, hold, rest — across 660 square inches of main grate, which is the difference between cooking for a family and cooking for a party.
Under the grates sits a ceramic briquette flame tamer system rather than the steel tamers used elsewhere in the range. Ceramic holds heat and re-radiates it, which evens out the hot line directly over each burner and vaporizes drippings instead of letting them pool. Stainless heat zone separators come with the grill so you can run genuinely different temperatures side by side.
Alturi is the series where the lighting is the signature. Angle-mounted interior halogen lights wash the grate from corner to corner rather than throwing a hot spot down the middle, and the control knobs are LED backlit so you can read your settings at night. A double-lined, spring-assisted hood holds wherever you leave it, a 3" analog thermometer reads hood temperature, and flame thrower ignition with a manual flash-tube backup lights the burners without batteries.

What opening do I build for the ALT36T?
34.75 inches wide, 23-1/16 inches deep and 10-3/16 inches high. Build the island to those figures rather than to the grill width.
Overall the grill head is 36.024 inches wide, 29.36 inches deep and 25.484 inches tall, so plan counter on both sides of the opening rather than butting it to a wall.
How big is the grate?
660 square inches of main grate, plus a 260 square inch secondary rack, for 920 square inches of total cooking capacity.
Does it come with heat zone separators?
Yes, stainless heat zone separators are included. With three burners underneath them, you can hold three genuinely different temperatures across the grate at once.
What sits under the cooking grates?
A ceramic briquette flame tamer system. The ceramic absorbs burner heat and radiates it back up, which smooths out the hot stripe over each burner and turns drippings into smoke rather than a puddle in the bottom of the firebox.
Is the rotisserie kit part of the package?
The 12,000 BTU infrared back burner is built in, but the rotisserie kit is a separate purchase. The Alturi 36 rotisserie kit is the one that fits this firebox.
How is the hood built?
It is double-lined and spring-assisted, so it holds at whatever height you leave it instead of dropping. A 3-inch analog thermometer in the hood reads the temperature under the lid.
What lighting does it have?

How do the burners light?
