Artisan 18" Propane Tank Drawer ARTP-LPTDR-18SC

A propane grill in an island still needs somewhere to keep the tank, and a tank sitting behind a cabinet door is awkward to change and easy to knock. The Artisan 18" propane tank drawer puts the cylinder on a pull-out drawer instead. It is designed to take a standard-size LP tank — Artisan's drawing shows a typical 20 lb cylinder with its regulator and a safety lanyard — and it rides on full-length soft-close ball-bearing slides, so a full tank rolls out to the front of the island for a swap and closes without slamming. It is 304 stainless steel, like the rest of Artisan's storage line. Artisan's own documents list it as the ARTP-18LPTDR-SC; Alfresco's store and most dealers, including us, list it as ARTP-LPTDR-18SC. It is the same drawer. The tank is not included.

Model and Installation Information

The drawer installs into a front opening in the island, and Artisan's spec sheet gives the counter front cutout and a typical installation drawing. We have not published the dimensions on this page because the figures on Artisan's drawing are not clearly labeled; take the cutout from the spec sheet itself, and call us if any number is unclear before you cut.

Storing propane inside an island is a safety question, not just a storage one. Artisan's grill manual says LP cylinders must be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area and that ventilation airways must not be blocked. Build the island with the ventilation your local code requires for LP equipment, and have a licensed gas professional confirm the installation. We do not publish vent sizes or clearance figures — those come from the manuals and your local authority.

Who This Model Is Best For

This drawer is for an island with a propane grill or propane burners and no natural gas line — the most common setup for a new outdoor kitchen away from the house. It suits anyone who changes tanks often enough to want it done standing up, and anyone who would rather the tank be out of sight but not out of reach. If you are on natural gas, you do not need it; put the space toward a three drawer unit or trash drawer instead.
