This listing pairs the Primo cart base with basket with a set of stainless steel side shelves, and it fits both the Oval X-Large and the Oval Large. One part number covers the whole support question for either grill: something to stand the cooker in, and somewhere to work beside it.
Side shelves prove themselves the first time you cook indirect. Moving a kamado from an indirect setup back to a direct fire means lifting hot deflector plates and a hot grate out of the grill mid-cook, and both have to land somewhere that is not the lawn. The same surfaces take a platter of raw meat, a probe thermometer and the tongs while the lid is open, which is the difference between staying at the grill and walking to the kitchen every few minutes.
Primo's Oval fireboxes are oval rather than round, so the coals bank naturally at one end and the far end runs cooler — two-zone cooking without any extra hardware. That style of cooking has you sliding food from the hot end to the cool end and back, and a cart with shelves either side is what makes it comfortable to do standing at the grill rather than crouched over it.
It suits the Primo Oval X-Large ceramic charcoal grill and the Primo Oval Large ceramic charcoal grill; every size sits together in Primo grills. If you would rather have one continuous surface than two shelves, the Primo 2-Piece Island Top for Oval X-Large and Large is the other route, and the Primo grill cover for an Oval X-Large or Large in a cart goes over the grill and cart together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this cart fit my Primo Oval Large?
Yes. This cart is listed for the Oval Large and the Oval X-Large, so the same part number covers both sizes. It is not the cart for an Oval Junior, a Round or an Oval XX-Large — those sizes have their own cart listings. Primo supports are sized to the grill they carry, so check the size word in the title before ordering.
What is the difference between this and the cart base sold without shelves?
Only the shelves. The Primo Cart Base with Basket for Oval X-Large and Large is the same base on its own, with no work surface. This listing is that base with the stainless steel side shelves already included, which is the simpler buy if you know from the start that you want surface beside the grill.
Do I need to order the side shelves separately?
No, they come with this listing. The shelves are also sold on their own as the Primo Stainless Steel Side Shelves for Oval X-Large and Large, which is the listing to use only if you already own the bare cart base and want to add surface to it later.
What do people actually use the side shelves for?
Landing hot deflector plates and grates when you switch between direct and indirect heat, keeping raw and cooked platters apart, and holding tools, a thermometer and a spray bottle within reach of the lid. On a long cook that surface is what keeps you at the grill instead of carrying hot hardware back to the kitchen counter.
Can I fit an island top to this cart instead of the shelves?
The island top is a separate route rather than an add-on to this one. Primo lists the 2-piece island top as requiring the plain cart base, SKU PG00368, not a cart already fitted with shelves. If a finished surface around the grill is the goal, buy the bare cart base and the island top together rather than this combination.
Does the Oval XX-Large use this same cart?
No. The XX-Large has its own cart and shelf combination, sold as the Primo Cart Base with Basket and Stainless Steel Side Shelves for Oval XX-Large. Nothing in the X-Large and Large cart family carries over to it, so buy by the size printed in the grill's name rather than by eye.
Let customers speak for us
I absolutely love my Coyote gas grill! The quality is excellent, it looks beautiful, and I’m very happy with my purchase.
I also want to give a special thank you to Ryan at Northwoods Grills. He was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. Before my grill even arrived, he took the time to help me with measurements and answered all of my questions to make sure everything would fit properly. He was always very attentive, patient, friendly, and easy to communicate with. His customer service really made a difference and made the whole experience so much easier for me.
It’s not often that you receive this level of personal attention and customer service. I truly appreciate all of Ryan’s help and would absolutely recommend Northwoods Grills. Great product and outstanding customer service!

Best pricing available for the product (checked all other on line retailers), and Ryan provided excellent responsiveness during the sales process. Loved dealing directly with the owner vs a sales person.
Delivery was completed within a week of the order and Ryan stayed in touch with consistent follow-up to ensure the products met my expectations.
Will recommend to friends / others looking for a high-end built in grill and matching cabinets.
