Description  

The Primo Half Drip Pan Oval X-Large is the half-size pan cut for the Oval X-Large. It goes under the food and over the fire, catching everything that renders out during a cook.

The X-Large is the size that gets used for long roasts, turkeys and rotisserie work, and all of those produce a steady stream of fat. Left alone, it hits the coals, flares, and comes back up as harsh smoke. Caught in a pan, it is simply removed at the end of the cook, and the ceramic stays clean. A pan of liquid also gives you steam through the dome, which helps on long cooks where the surface of the meat would otherwise dry out well before the center is ready. As a half pan it takes up one zone, not the whole grate.

Will this drip pan fit my Primo Oval X-Large?

Yes, it is the X-Large half pan. Each Primo size has its own pan because the cooking beds differ, so this one belongs in an Oval X-Large. If you own a different Oval, choose the pan named for that grill instead.

What is a half drip pan for?

It sits between the fire and the food and catches fat and juices as they render. That keeps drippings off the coals, which means fewer flare-ups and no greasy smoke, and it saves you cleaning burnt-on grease out of the grill afterwards.

Can I use it under the rotisserie?

Will the Oval Large drip pan fit an X-Large?

No. The Large pan is short for the X-Large cooking bed and will not sit where it needs to, which means drippings get past it. Buy the pan that matches your grill size and it does its job without adjustment.
