Made for the Post-2015 Primo Oval Large, this hinge and handle kit will not fit a pre-2015 Large. Primo changed the design at that point and the hardware does not cross over, so check the era of your grill first and buy on that basis.
What you get is the assembly that joins the dome to the base and lets it move: the hinge, the two bands that clamp the ceramic, and the handle. On a Large this hardware is worked constantly, since the Large is the size most people use as an everyday grill rather than a weekend one, and every cook is another set of open-and-close cycles through the same joint.
Replace it when the dome stops behaving. A lid that slams, sags, or rests unevenly against the base is telling you the hardware has lost its tension, and an uneven close is the start of a sealing problem as much as a mechanical one. Changing hinge, bands and handle in one go leaves the whole assembly the same age.

Is my Primo Oval Large a pre-2015 or post-2015 grill?
This kit only fits the post-2015 Large, so it is the question to answer before you buy. The purchase date is the practical guide: bought new after 2015 and this is your kit. Bought earlier, and you need the Pre-2015 Oval Large hinge and handle kit. The two do not fit each other's grills, so a guess here costs you the order.
What is included in the kit?
Hinge, bands and handle. The bands wrap the ceramic dome and base, the hinge joins them and takes the dome's weight, and the handle gives you something to pull. Supplied as a set because they share a load, and mixing a new part with two worn ones tends to put the dome back out of line quickly.
Will an Oval X-Large kit work on my Large?
No. The kits are sized to the shell they wrap, so an X-Large kit will not clamp a Large. You need the listing that names both your size and your era, which for a Large owner narrows the choice to two: this post-2015 kit or the pre-2015 version of it.
My handle is loose but the hinge seems fine. Do I still need the whole kit?
Not necessarily, but check the bands before you decide. A handle that moves is often mounted to a band that has loosened, in which case tightening the handle alone puts you back where you started before long. If the dome also closes unevenly, the kit is the more honest fix.
Can a worn hinge stop the grill holding a low temperature?
Yes. Low and slow cooking on a kamado depends on the dome sealing against the base, and that only happens if the dome lands flat all the way round. Hardware that has spread or sagged lets one side stand proud, the fire gets unmetered air, and the temperature climbs past whatever the vents were set for.
How difficult is the swap?
It is straightforward but not a job to rush. Let the grill go completely cold, support the dome before you slacken the bands, and have someone help with the lift. When you rebuild, get the dome sitting square against the base first and tighten only once you are happy with how it lands.
