The Primo Round Griddle is the flat cooking surface made for the Primo Round ceramic charcoal grill. The Round has a round firebox rather than the long oval one the Oval models are built around, so its accessories are shaped to it, and this griddle is the Round's own plate rather than a shared part.
What it does is straightforward: it puts a continuous surface where the grate has gaps. That is the difference between being able to cook eggs, sliced peppers, shrimp, crab cakes and flaking white fish on a charcoal grill and having to bring them back indoors to a pan. Fat stays under the food instead of dripping into the fire, which browns rather than steams whatever is sitting in it.
Because a griddle cook is a direct fire, it is one of the simplest setups the Round will do. Coals in, plate on, let it come to heat with the grill, cook, scrape it down while it is still warm.

Will the Primo Round Griddle fit my Primo Round grill?
Yes, it is shaped for the Round and that is what it is sold for. The Round has a round firebox where the rest of the Primo range is oval, so parts do not carry across between them. Buy Round accessories for a Round grill and Oval accessories for an Oval.
Can I use an Oval griddle on the Round instead?
No. An Oval plate is cut for a long firebox and will not sit correctly in a round one, which leaves it unstable and unsupported over the fire. The size and shape named on the listing is the fit, and there is no adapting between the two shapes.
What should I cook on it first?
Breakfast is the usual answer, because eggs and pancakes are what a bar grate flatly cannot handle. After that, smash burgers, shrimp or scallops, sliced onions and peppers, and any fish thin enough to fall apart when you try to turn it on a grate.
Do the coals go straight underneath the griddle?
Yes. Griddling is direct cooking and the plate is the barrier between the fire and the food, so no deflector is needed. If you want a gentler surface, light less charcoal and close the vents down rather than trying to shield the plate from the fire.
How do I look after the surface between cooks?
Scrape it while it is warm, before the fat sets hard, and clean it with hot water rather than letting residue build up. Dry it properly and put a thin film of oil across the face. Storing it damp or dirty is what shortens the life of any griddle surface.
