Alfresco 30" Freestanding Cart Griddle AXE-30GTC (LP or NG)

The Alfresco AXE-30GTC is the same restaurant-grade flat top as Alfresco's built-in griddle, mounted on a rolling 304 stainless steel cart. You get 468 sq. in. of 3/8" solid steel griddle surface across two independently thermostatically controlled zones and 37,600 BTU of output, with no island construction, no countertop cutout and no insulated jacket to buy.

Folding side shelves, a sliding shelf and under-cart storage make it a complete outdoor cooking station on its own. If you are building a permanent outdoor kitchen instead, the built-in AXE-30GT is the same griddle head designed to drop into a counter.

Specifications

  • Griddle surface area: 468 sq. in. (27 1/2" W x 17" D cooking plate)
  • Griddle plate: 3/8" solid steel, thermostatically controlled
  • Heat zones: 2 independent thermostatic zones
  • Total output: 37,600 BTU (two 18,800 BTU stainless steel U-burners)
  • Overall dimensions: 54 1/8" W with the side shelves extended (roughly 38" with them folded) x 26 11/16" D x 39 9/16" H
  • Cart: foldable and removable side shelves, sliding shelf, under-cart storage, four casters
  • Propane storage: integrated gas tank support on the LP configuration (tank supplied by you)
  • Electrical: 115 VAC / 6.8 A / 60 Hz. Power supply required, GFCI recommended
  • Gas: natural gas @ 4" W.C. (1/2" NPT connection) or LP @ 10" W.C. (3/8" ODF connection)
  • Ignition: push-button electronic ignition
  • Clearance: cart body no less than 3" from non-combustible materials
  • Construction: 304 stainless steel, heli-arc welded seams, polished accents, made in the USA
  • Included: removable stainless steel cover

No cutout and no insulated jacket needed - this model is freestanding. Call 843-212-7209 if you want us to check clearances for a covered porch or a tight patio corner.

Cart or built-in?

The cooking hardware is identical. The AXE-30GTC exists for people who want a serious flat top without committing to island construction, or who want the griddle to sit alongside an existing grill rather than inside the same counter run.

Choose the cart if you are renting, still planning your kitchen, or want to be able to move the griddle. Choose the built-in AXE-30GT if you have an island and want the flush, integrated look. If you already own the built-in and want to convert it, the XE-30GTC cart is sold separately.

Two zones, two temperatures

Each half of the plate has its own burner and its own thermostat, so you set a target temperature and the griddle holds it. That matters more on a flat top than on a grill: you cook in direct contact with steel, so a surface that drifts 75 degrees is the difference between a golden pancake and a burnt one.

The 3/8" plate thickness carries that stability, holding heat when you drop a full load of cold food on it instead of crashing. In practice you get breakfast service on one side and a sear zone on the other, or a low holding zone while you keep cooking.

A complete station, not just a griddle

The side shelves fold down when you need the footprint back and lift off entirely for storage, which is what takes this from 54 inches wide in use to roughly 38 inches parked. A sliding shelf and under-cart storage handle tools, oils and scrapers, and four casters mean you can roll it out of the weather.

On propane, the tank sits in an integrated support in the cart rather than standing loose beside it.

Natural gas or propane

Order the fuel that matches your setup. Natural gas connects to your home line at 4" W.C. through a 1/2" NPT fitting; propane runs at 10" W.C. through a 3/8" ODF fitting. These are not field-convertible, so choose correctly at checkout. Our natural gas and propane FAQs explain how to tell which supply you have.

Standard is brushed 304 stainless. Alfresco also builds this griddle in ten standard colors and the full RAL Classic collection of 216 colors as a special order. Call 843-212-7209 for color pricing and lead times.

Alfresco 30" Freestanding Cart Griddle AXE-30GTC - 468 Sq In, Dual-Zone Thermostatic Control, 37,600 BTU, 304 Stainless Steel

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the cooking surface on the AXE-30GTC?

468 sq. in., on a cooking plate measuring 27 1/2" wide by 17" deep.

That is enough for roughly a dozen smash burgers or a full breakfast for six at once, with room to push finished food to a cooler zone.

How is this different from the built-in AXE-30GT?

The cooking hardware is identical - same 468 sq. in. plate, same two thermostatic zones, same 37,600 BTU. The difference is the cart.

The AXE-30GT drops into an island cutout and needs an insulated jacket for combustible framing. The AXE-30GTC rolls into place and needs neither.

How much space does it take up?

54 1/8" wide with the side shelves extended, 26 11/16" deep and 39 9/16" high.

The side shelves fold down and lift off entirely, which brings the parked width to roughly 38 inches. Measure your patio run before ordering, and call 843-212-7209 if you are fitting it under a covered porch.

How many BTU is it?

37,600 BTU total, from two 18,800 BTU stainless steel U-burners.

On a griddle, thermostatic control matters more than raw BTU, because the number you cook by is the plate temperature rather than the burner output.

Do I need to build an island for it?

No. This is the freestanding configuration, so there is no countertop cutout and no insulated jacket to buy.

Keep the cart body no less than 3" from non-combustible materials, and give it a 115V outlet and a gas supply.

Where does the propane tank go?

The LP configuration has an integrated gas tank support built into the cart, so the cylinder is held in place rather than standing loose beside the griddle. You supply the tank.

The natural gas configuration skips the tank entirely and ties into your existing line.

Does it need electricity?

Yes. 115 VAC, 6.8 amps, 60 Hz for the electronic ignition. A GFCI outlet is recommended.

Can I convert it from propane to natural gas later?

No. Order the fuel type you will actually use. Natural gas runs at 4" W.C. through a 1/2" NPT connection; propane runs at 10" W.C. through a 3/8" ODF connection.

Our natural gas and propane FAQs explain how to identify which supply you have.

Which cover fits it?

The AGV-30GTC vinyl cover, which spans both the griddle and the cart body.

The built-in AGV-30GT cover will not fit, because it is cut for a griddle head sitting in a counter rather than a full cart. The griddle also ships with a removable stainless steel cover for the plate itself.

Does it have wheels?

Yes, four casters, so you can roll it out of the weather or reposition it for a party.

It is a heavy stainless cart rather than a portable tailgating griddle, so think of it as movable within your patio rather than something you load into a vehicle.

What storage does the cart have?

Under-cart storage, a sliding shelf, and foldable side shelves that also lift off completely.

What does dual-zone thermostatic control actually do?

Each half of the plate has its own burner and its own thermostat, so you set a target temperature and the griddle holds it.

In practice that means eggs and pancakes at 300°F on one side while the other side sits at sear heat for burgers, without the two halves fighting each other.

How thick is the griddle plate?

3/8" solid steel.

Thickness is what carries heat stability. A thin plate crashes in temperature the moment you drop cold food on it; 3/8" holds its heat through a full load.

I already own the built-in griddle. Can I put it on a cart?

Yes. The XE-30GTC cart is sold separately and is built specifically for this griddle head.

Does it come in colors?

Standard is brushed 304 stainless. Alfresco also builds it in ten standard colors and the full RAL Classic collection of 216 colors as a special order.

Color models carry an upcharge and a longer lead time. Call 843-212-7209 for pricing and availability.

What can I actually cook on it?

Smash burgers, breakfast service, hibachi and teppanyaki, fajitas, cheesesteaks, seafood, and large batches of vegetables that would otherwise fall through grill grates.

The two zones let you run a hot sear side and a lower holding side at once, which is what makes it practical for cooking a full meal rather than one item.

Does it ship free?

Yes, by freight with curbside delivery. Free shipping and no credit card fees. We are a family-owned outdoor kitchen retailer in Charleston, South Carolina, and you can reach a real person at 843-212-7209.
