What are the cutout dimensions for this drop-in cooler?
Frame your opening 15 1/2" wide, 11 3/4" tall and 23" deep. The unit itself measures 17" x 24", so the flange overlaps the cut on all sides.
Check the 23" depth against your island before you build. This is a deep drop-in, and it needs clear space below the countertop for the full ice bin.
How much ice does it hold?
The SSIC-17 holds 20 lb of ice in a 1.7 cubic foot compartment. That is sized for a round of drinks at a normal cookout rather than for stocking a party all afternoon.
How is it secured in the island?
It mounts with a stainless steel mounting bracket and swings on a heavy-duty stainless steel hinge. Both are stainless like the body, so nothing in the mounting hardware becomes the part that rusts first.
