How much heat does the Sizzler 32 produce?

48,000 BTUs from four stainless steel tube burners rated 12,000 BTUs each. Each burner runs on its own valve, so you can hold a sear zone on one side and a low zone on the other.

What opening does this grill need in my island?

Cut 30 5/8 inches wide by 20 3/4 inches deep by 8 inches high. The grill head measures 32.5 by 25.63 by 20 inches, and the wider top rests on the counter.

Does it have a rear burner?

No. Summerset does not specify a rear or infrared back burner on any Sizzler, in 25, 32 or 40 inches. A rotisserie kit is sold separately as an accessory, and the rear-burner heads are the Pro-level models instead.

What is the total cooking surface?

696 square inches all in, of which 532 square inches are the main grates. That is enough main surface for a large family cook without crowding the food.

Which stainless steel is used?

Summerset publishes the grade by component rather than one figure for the whole grill. The body is #443 stainless steel, chosen for corrosion resistance and even heat distribution, and the hood is #443 stainless in a 16 gauge double-lined panel. The main burners are #304 stainless steel tubes and the burner covers are #443 stainless flame tamers. The 8mm round cooking grates are stainless steel, but Summerset does not publish their alloy.

Does the Sizzler 32 have interior or control panel lighting?

No. Lighting is not part of this model. If you cook after dark and want lit knobs and halogen lights inside the hood, the Sizzler Pro 32 is the same width with those features added.

How heavy is it?

117 pounds, so the cutout needs framing that carries that load permanently, plus the grates and any food on them.

Is natural gas an option?

Yes. Natural gas and propane versions are both available, and the fuel type is fixed when the grill is built rather than swapped later on your patio.

How does the ignition work?

A Flame Thrower ignition system fires the burners quickly from cold, which matters most on a grill that lives outside through a winter.

What do the flame tamers do for cooking?

The #443 stainless flame tamers sit above the burners to spread heat and cut flare-ups when fat drips down. Fewer flare-ups means less scorching on skin-on chicken and fatty cuts.
