How big is the cooking surface on the Sizzler 40?
985 square inches of total cooking surface, with 666 square inches of that on the main grates. This is the grill to buy if you regularly cook for a crowd rather than a family of four.
What cutout does the SZR40 require?
37 3/4 inches wide, 20 3/4 inches deep, 8 inches high. Depth and height match the smaller Sizzler heads, so only the width changes if you are re-planning an island layout.
How many burners are there?
Five stainless steel tube burners delivering 60,000 BTUs across the grilling surface. Five narrow zones across 40 inches gives you finer control than four wide ones.
What are the grill's overall dimensions?
39.63 inches wide, 25.5 inches deep and 20 inches high. Leave counter space on both sides of that footprint for landing hot food.
Is there a rear burner on this model?
No rear burner is specified on the SZR40, and the rotisserie kit is sold separately. If a rear infrared burner is on your list, look at the Pro-level heads instead.
What is the grill made of?
#443 stainless steel, selected for durability and airflow through the firebox.
How much does the Sizzler 40 weigh?
143 pounds. Set the island framing and the countertop cutout with that in mind before the grill arrives on site.
Is it offered in natural gas?
Yes, natural gas and liquid propane configurations are both available. Match the order to the gas line already run to the island.
What does the double-lined hood do on a grill this wide?
It keeps heat in the chamber across the full 40 inches and shields the outer hood from the discoloration that heat causes over time.
Do the briquettes help with such a large surface?
Yes. The easy-clean briquette system is what evens out the heat between five burners, which is the difference between a usable 40-inch surface and one with hot stripes.
Should I choose the 40 or the 32?
Base it on the island opening you have or can build. The 40 needs a 37 3/4 inch opening and gives you five burners and 60,000 BTUs; the Sizzler 32 drops into 30 5/8 inches with four burners and 48,000 BTUs.
An existing island cut for a 32-inch head will need widening for this grill.
