Summerset Built-In Grill Replacement: Old Sizzler and TRL Models and Their Successors

In 2025 Summerset renamed its built-in grills, and its own cutout sheets list each pre-2025 model beside its current replacement: the SIZ Sizzler models became the SZR Sizzler, the SIZPRO models became the SZRPRO Sizzler Pro, the TRL32 became the TRL Pro 32 and the TRL38 became the TRL Pro 40. This page records the openings Summerset published for its older built-in grills, taken from Summerset's own manuals and cutout sheets, and shows which current grill matches each one and what still needs checking.

Last verified 2 October 2026. Prices change; the product page always shows the current price. Summerset's own documents give slightly different widths for some sizes, so measure your opening before you order.

How to read this page

Status What it means
Confirmed successor Summerset's 2025 cutout sheet lists the old model as the pre-2025 version of the current model, and the published openings match. An installer should still check your actual opening.
Successor — check needed Summerset names the current model as the successor, but one published dimension differs. The note says what to check.
Dimensional candidate Not named by Summerset as a successor, but its published opening is close. The note says what would change.
No current match Nothing we sell covers the old opening.

All figures are inches, written width × depth × height. "Head" is the grill's overall width above the counter.

Which Summerset do you have?

The model number is on the rating label. Before 2025, Summerset Sizzler grills were numbered SIZ26, SIZ32, SIZ40 (Sizzler) and SIZPRO32, SIZPRO40 (Sizzler Pro); the larger stainless line was TRL32, TRL38 and the deluxe TRLD44. Earlier still came the TR and TRLD series. Today's models are numbered SZR, SZRPRO and TRLPRO.

Sizzler and Sizzler Pro (SIZ26, SIZ32, SIZPRO32, SIZ40, SIZPRO40)

Old model Original opening Current grill Current opening Liner Status Note
SIZ26 23¼ or 23¾ × 20¾ × 8½ (varies by Summerset document) Sizzler 25 SZR25 ($1,699) 23¼ × 20¾ × 8 (cutout sheet; the manual says 23¾) GL-SZR25 Confirmed successor Measure the width: Summerset's documents give both 23¼ and 23¾
SIZ32, SIZPRO32 30⅝ × 20¾ × 8½ Sizzler 32 SZR32 ($1,899) or Sizzler Pro 32 SZRPRO32 ($2,799) 30⅝ × 20¾ × 8 GL-SZR32 Confirmed successor Same width in every Summerset document; the newer grills need ½ less height, and these grills hang on their lip
SIZ40, SIZPRO40 37¾ to 38 × 20¾ × 8½ (varies by document) Sizzler 40 SZR40 ($2,499) or Sizzler Pro 40 SZRPRO40 ($3,199) 37¾ to 38 × 20¾ × 8 GL-SZR40 Confirmed successor Measure the width: Summerset publishes 37¾, 37⅞ and 38 across its documents

Older Sizzler editions: an earlier Summerset Sizzler installation guide gives 30⅝ × 21¼ × 8½ for the 32-inch and 38⅝ × 21¼ × 8½ for the 40-inch. If your opening matches those figures, the current Sizzler 32 fits the width but the opening is ½ deeper front-to-back; the current Sizzler 40 heads overhang a 38⅝ opening by only about ½ per side. Those are dimensional candidates: measure and send us the figures.

TRL (TRL32, TRL38)

Old model Original opening Current grill Current opening Liner Status Note
TRL32 30½ × 20¾ × 10 to 10¼ (varies by document) TRL Pro 32 TRLPRO32 ($3,199) 30½ × 20¾ × 9⅜ GL-TRLPRO32 Successor — check needed Width and depth match. The TRL Pro needs 9⅜ below the counter where the TRL opening was 10 to 10¼, so confirm how the new grill will be supported in your island
TRL38 38½ × 20¾ × 10 to 10¼ TRL Pro 40 TRLPRO40 ($3,699) 38½ × 20¾ × 9⅜ GL-TRLPRO40 Successor — check needed Same width and depth; same height check as above. Summerset renamed the 38-inch TRL as the 40-inch TRL Pro
TR-32 (earlier TR series) 30½ × 20¾ × 10 TRL Pro 32 TRLPRO32 30½ × 20¾ × 9⅜ — Dimensional candidate Same height check; the TR manual we found carries no brand or date

No current match

  • TRLD44 (Summerset marks it discontinued): its opening is about 45 wide, and no built-in grill we sell has a 44-inch-class head.
  • TR-26: a current Sizzler 25 would overhang the old 24½ opening by only about ¼ per side.
  • TRLD-32: every current head we sell is too narrow for its 33¼ opening.

For these, the options are a filler panel or a re-cut opening, decided with your installer. Send us the opening and we will list what is possible.

Before you order

  • Read the model number from the rating label.
  • Measure the opening: width at the front and back, depth, and height to the first thing below the counter.
  • Check fuel: natural gas and propane are separate models.
  • If the island is combustible, use the liner Summerset specifies for the new grill; the liner numbers above follow Summerset's own pre-2025 to current mapping.

FAQ

What replaced the Summerset Sizzler SIZ32?

The Sizzler 32 SZR32, and the SIZPRO32 became the Sizzler Pro 32 SZRPRO32. Summerset's 2025 cutout sheet lists them as the pre-2025 versions, and the published width (30⅝) is the same in every Summerset document.

What replaced the Summerset TRL38?

The TRL Pro 40 TRLPRO40. Summerset's cutout sheet lists the TRL38 as its pre-2025 version. Width and depth match; the TRL Pro needs less height below the counter, so check how it will be supported.

Is there a replacement for the Summerset TRLD44?

Not among the grills we sell. Its opening is about 45 inches wide and no current head we carry covers it.

Can I keep my old Summerset liner?

Summerset's 2025 sheet maps the old liners to the current ones (for example GL-SIZ32 to GL-SZR32, and GL-TRL38 to the TRL Pro 40 liner). Use the liner Summerset lists for the new grill.
