Alfresco invented the Sear Zone, pairing an infrared burner with stainless steel burners in a single grill, and this kit adds that capability to a 42-inch Intelligent Professional grill. The AIPG-SZK-42 is the Multi-Position Sear Zone insert: you choose whether the high-heat zone sits left, center, or right, and you can run more than one zone at once.

On a 42-inch cooking surface there is genuinely room to use that flexibility. Sear steaks over infrared at one end while vegetables or finished plates hold at gentler heat at the other, without either job compromising the other.

Which grills does the AIPG-SZK-42 fit?
It is specific to Alfresco's 42-inch Intelligent Professional grills, the AIPG-42 built-in and AIPG-42C cart model. The 36-inch grills use the AIPG-SZK-36. It is not interchangeable with ALXE series grills.

What does Multi-Position mean?
The Sear Zone insert is not fixed to one location. Place it left, center, or right on the cooking surface, and add multiple zones if you want more searing area. You decide based on what you cook.

Do I need this if my grill already has a Sear Zone?
No. Check your model designation first, since some AIPG configurations ship with SearZone already installed. Send us your model number and we will confirm before you order.

Why sear with infrared?
Infrared burners reach far higher surface temperatures than standard gas burners, producing a genuine steakhouse crust instead of grey banding. Alfresco was the first manufacturer to combine infrared and stainless burners in one grill.
