Alfresco Solid Fuel Insert SFI-POD
The Solid Fuel Insert turns your gas Alfresco into a wood-fired grill without giving up the convenience of gas. Drop the specially designed insert into the grill, fill it with hardwood, lump charcoal, or another solid fuel, and you get genuine wood-cooking flavor from the same grill you use on a weeknight. When you want gas back, lift it out.
This is the accessory that answers the gas-versus-charcoal question by refusing it. Sear a steak over live coals on Saturday, run the burners on Tuesday, and never own two grills. It is part of Alfresco's plug-and-play drop-in accessory system, the same family as the Commercial Griddle, Indirect Roasting Pod, and Steamer/Fryer, all of which use the same grill opening.

How does the Solid Fuel Insert work?
It drops into the grill in place of the standard cooking surface. You fill it with hardwood, lump charcoal, or another solid fuel and light it, then cook over live coals while the grill body, hood, and rotisserie keep working as normal.
Do I lose gas grilling when I own one?
No. It lifts out by hand and the grill goes back to gas in seconds. That is the argument for the SFI-POD over a second grill: charcoal on Saturday, burners on Tuesday, one appliance and one island cutout.
Can I run wood and gas together?
The insert is designed for solid fuel cooking rather than simultaneous use. If what you want is wood smoke while cooking on gas, that is Alfresco's Signature Taste smoking system instead. Follow the care and use manual for your specific grill.
Which Alfresco grills does it fit?
Alfresco lists the SFI-POD across the ALXE range from 30-inch through 56-inch. Intelligent Professional grills use model-specific versions instead, the AIPG-SFI-POD36 and AIPG-SFI-POD42, so match the part to your series and not just the width.
