How much cooking space does the ALXE-36 give me?

660 sq. in. of actual grilling area, heated by three 18-SR stainless steel Accufire burners.

Three burners across that width means you can hold a hot zone and a cooler holding zone at the same time rather than cooking everything at one temperature.

What cutout dimensions should I build to?

The grill measures 36" wide overall, but Alfresco's cutout dimensions are not published in the spec table on this page.

Is a rotisserie included?

Yes. The Mega-Drive rotisserie system is integrated, with an infrared burner and a chain-driven motor Alfresco describes as whisper-quiet.

Chain drive matters when you are turning heavy cuts, since it does not slip the way a belt can under load.

Can I smoke food on this grill?

Yes. The Signature Taste smoker system is built in and runs on its own dedicated burner, separate from the three main burners.

What are Accufire burners?

They are Alfresco's 18-SR stainless steel main burners, and this grill has three of them. Alfresco's stated goal for the design is precise, high-intensity heat.

How does it deal with hot spots?

Refractive ceramic 5-way heat distributing briquettes sit between the burners and the grates and spread heat across the surface.

The cooking grates themselves are non-stick electro-polished stainless, which is a smoother surface than cast grates and easier to wipe down.

Will the control panel be too hot to touch while I am cooking?

Alfresco fits the ALXE-36 with the SafeTouch air-cooled control panel, designed to keep the front of the grill cool while the burners run.

Is the hood heavy to open?

The EZ-Lift hood-assist system carries the weight, so the hood opens and closes with light effort rather than a two-handed lift.

Does it need power?

Yes. Push-button electronic ignition runs on 110V AC, and the LED control panel and dual high-intensity halogen work lights share that supply.

Is the Sear Zone worth adding?

The optional Sear Zone infrared burner reaches up to 1500°F, which Alfresco says cuts cook time roughly in half with minimal flare-ups.

It is the difference between a good grill mark and a full crust on a thick steak. If you rarely sear, the three Accufire burners are enough on their own.

Natural gas or propane?
