At 36 inches Artisan gives you three grill lines, and only the Professional arrives with a rotisserie. The ART-ROT36 is the accessory that adds one to the other two: Alfresco lists it as the optional rotisserie for the American Eagle AAEP-36 and the Artisan Series ART-36, in both built-in and cart versions. The kit is a heavy-duty motor, a spit and forks. Artisan rates the motor at 50-lb torque and its manual rates it to turn a cut of up to 25 lb with a maximum diameter of 10 inches, and the motor can connect to either end of the spit. Artisan's AAEP-36 spec sheet even marks the island layout "recommended if adding optional rotisserie", which is the reminder that the plug-in motor needs an outlet close by.

The ART-ROT36 fits the Artisan American Eagle 36" built-in (AAEP-36), Artisan American Eagle 36" cart (AAEP-36C), Artisan Artisan Series 36" built-in (ART-36) and Artisan Artisan Series 36" cart (ART-36C). Alfresco lists it on the series pages for those grills as "optional", and it is not listed for the Professional line: every Artisan Professional grill already carries a rear infrared rotisserie burner and motor as standard.
Assembly per the Artisan manual is simple: the square, pointed end of the spit goes into the motor coupler, the round end drops into the slot opposite, and the forks go on with the prongs facing the center of the spit. What needs forethought is power. The motor has its own grounded plug, and Artisan's AAEP-36 spec sheet marks the island layout "recommended if adding optional rotisserie", so the outlet belongs in the island plan rather than on an extension cord later. The AAEP-36 and ART-36 have no rear infrared burner, which is Professional-only; follow the grill's own manual for rotisserie cooking and have the outlet installed to local code by an electrician.
The ART-ROT36 is for an owner of a 36-inch American Eagle or Artisan Series grill — the width many full outdoor kitchens are planned around — who wants to add spit roasting now or later. It is especially worth ordering with the grill when the island is still being built, so the outlet the motor needs goes in with everything else. If you own a Professional 36, the rotisserie is already built in and you do not need this kit.

A rotisserie motor, a spit and forks. Alfresco describes the kit as including those items only.
The Artisan manual rates the motor to turn a cut of up to 25 lb with a maximum diameter of 10 inches. Artisan also describes the motor as 50-lb torque — that is a motor rating, not a meat weight.
Yes. The motor has its own grounded plug, so you need a grounded outdoor outlet within reach of the grill.
No. Professional grills include a rear infrared rotisserie burner and motor as standard. See the Professional 36" built-in for an example.
Within reach of the motor. Artisan's AAEP-36 spec sheet marks a location "recommended if adding optional rotisserie" on the island layout. Confirm the placement with the spec sheet and a licensed electrician.
