The ART-36C is the largest Artisan Series cart grill we stock, and the reason to take it over the 32" version is the grate: 603 square inches of main surface measuring 33-1/2" by 18", plus a 214 square inch two-position warming rack, for an Artisan-published total of 818 square inches. That is enough width to run a hot zone and a resting zone side by side without shuffling food to the edges. Under the grates sit half-inch refractive ceramic briquettes and three 304-series stainless U-burners, ported in dual rows on three sides; over them, a seamless welded double-wall hood with spring assist and a built-in thermometer. The cart is 304 stainless like the head, with fold-down side shelves, a cabinet closed by seamless double-magnet doors, and locking casters, and Artisan ships the whole thing fully assembled. Like every Artisan Series model it runs a 110V electronic ignition and interior halogen work lights, and like every Artisan Series model it has no rear infrared burner.

Key Features

  • 818 sq in of grilling area — a 33-1/2" x 18" main grate at 603 sq in, with a 214 sq in two-position warming rack above.
  • Arrives fully assembled — Artisan builds the cart models at the factory, so the grill is ready once it is off the truck and positioned.
  • Fold-down side shelves — work surface on both sides that folds away when the grill is parked or covered.
  • 304 stainless cart with magnet-closed doors — a seamless door design over cabinet storage, matched to the head rather than bolted on beneath it.
  • Locking casters — pull it out from the wall to clean behind, then lock it in position to cook.
  • 110V electronic ignition and interior halogen lights — the Artisan Series signature; the cart needs a 115 VAC outlet to use either.
  • Heli-arc hand-welded 304 / 18-8 stainless — no mechanical fasteners in the body. Made in the USA.

Artisan Series ART-36 / ART-36C Spec Sheet

Model and Installation Information

Quote it as ART-36C. The trailing C is the cart, and it is the only thing that separates this listing from the built-in ART-36 — the grill head, the burners and the cooking areas are shared, so a spec you read for one applies to the other above the cart line. Choose the fuel at order time: ART-36C-LP takes a standard 20 lb (5 gallon) propane cylinder in the cart cabinet, while ART-36C-NG is plumbed to a natural gas line and stays wherever that connection is.

One caution on the heat rating. Artisan publishes "up to 71,400 BTUs" for the 36" Artisan Series, and publishes the identical figure for the 36" Professional, which has a rear infrared burner this grill does not. Both cannot be correct. We have left Artisan's own current figure on the page rather than replacing it with a number of our own, but if total output is what your decision turns on, call us and we will confirm the certified rating from the serial plate before you order.

For siting: the grill is 61-3/8" wide, 26-5/16" deep and 49" high with the shelves folded down, weighs 275 lb, and needs a 115 VAC supply on a GFI-protected circuit for the ignition and the halogen lights. Measure the run to a weatherproof outlet before delivery, and leave room for the hood to rise and the shelves to fold out on both sides. The cover cut for this model is the ART-36CVC; the ART-36CV is the built-in cover and does not fit the cart.

Who This Model Is Best For

Take the ART-36C if you regularly cook for a crowd and have no intention of building an island. The extra four inches over the 32" cart buy 73 square inches of main grate and a wider warming rack, which in practice is the difference between cooking in one pass and cooking in two. It suits a covered patio or a deck where the grill has a settled home near an outlet but still needs to roll clear of the wall for cleaning. Against the American Eagle AAEP-36C you gain the 110V ignition and the interior lights; against the Professional ARTP-36C you give up the rear rotisserie burner and the lit control panel. If you would rather have the grate area in a smaller footprint, the ART-32C is the same cart design a size down; if the island is going in anyway, the ART-36 is this head without the cart.

Buying From Northwoods Grills

Northwoods Grills is a family-owned retailer, and at 275 lb and just over five feet wide this is a grill worth siting properly the first time. Call 843-212-7209 and we will work through the delivery path, the outlet, and whether propane or natural gas is right for where it will stand. Shipping is free on every order and we never add credit card fees. See the alternatives in Artisan cart grills and the full brand in Artisan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much cooking space does the ART-36C have?

603 square inches on a 33-1/2" by 18" main grate, plus a 214 square inch two-position warming rack. Artisan publishes the total as 818 square inches.

Why is the BTU figure the same as the Professional 36?

Artisan currently publishes up to 71,400 BTUs for both the 36" Artisan Series and the 36" Professional, though the Professional adds a rear infrared burner this model does not have. We have kept the manufacturer's published figure rather than substituting our own. Call us if the exact total matters and we will confirm the certified serial-plate rating.

Does the ART-36C arrive assembled?

Yes. Artisan ships its cart models fully assembled.

How much space does it take up?

61-3/8" wide, 26-5/16" deep and 49" high, at 275 lb. Add clearance for the hood to open and for the side shelves to fold out on both sides.

Does the cart grill need to be plugged in?

Yes. The 110V electronic ignition and the interior halogen work lights both need a 115 VAC supply, on a GFI-protected circuit. Site the grill within reach of a weatherproof outdoor outlet.

Propane or natural gas?

Both. ART-36C-LP houses a standard 20 lb (5 gallon) cylinder in the cart cabinet; ART-36C-NG connects to a natural gas line and stays at that connection.

Is a rotisserie included?

No. The Artisan Series has no rear infrared burner. The ART-ROT36 kit is sold separately and turns over the main burners.

Which cover fits it?

The ART-36CVC cart cover. The ART-36CV is sized for the built-in head and will not fit this model.

How does it compare with the ART-32C?

Same cart design, same features, a larger head. The 36" gives 603 square inches of main grate against 530 and a wider warming rack, and it is four inches wider overall at 61-3/8".

What is the warranty?

Artisan's limited residential warranty covers the stainless burners for 15 years, stainless steel parts for 10 years, the ceramic briquette trays for 3 years, and the complete grill including parts and labor for 1 year.
