The AAEP-36C is the largest cart in Artisan's American Eagle line: three 20,000 BTU stainless steel U-burners across a 36" cooking surface, 60,000 BTUs in total, on a freestanding stainless cart rather than dropped into an island. The extra width over the 32" cart mostly buys you a genuine cool zone alongside two hot ones, which is what makes indirect roasting practical while something else sears. It is built in the USA from commercial-grade 304 stainless steel and offered in both LP and NG versions (AAEP-36C-LP and AAEP-36C-NG). An integrated hood lift assist carries the wide lid, refractive ceramic briquettes even out the heat from end to end, and a Sear Zone infrared burner and the ART-ROT36 rotisserie kit are available separately if you want to extend what it does.

Key Features

  • Three stainless steel U-burners — 20,000 BTUs each, 60,000 BTUs total across the 36" surface.
  • Fully adjustable brass valves — each burner controlled independently, so low really is low and indirect roasting on the unlit side works.
  • Refractive ceramic heat-distributing briquettes — convert the flame into radiant heat, which keeps the far ends of a wide grill from running cold.
  • Heavy-duty stainless steel grates — electro-polished finish for durability and easy cleaning.
  • 9V electronic ignition with push-button controls — the only connection the cart needs is gas; no power at the grill.
  • Integrated hood lift assist system — the 36" lid opens and stays up without being held.
  • Built-in hood thermometer — cook lid-down at a known temperature.
  • Air-cooling control panel — keeps the front cool to the touch and protects the electronics behind the knobs.
  • Two-position adjustable warming rack — hold food warm or lift it clear of a full grate.
  • Optional Sear Zone infrared burner — 20,000 BTU ceramic infrared burner for high-heat searing without flare-ups from drippings hitting an open flame.
  • Optional ART-ROT36 rotisserie kit — motor, spit and forks, sold separately rather than built in.
  • Commercial-grade 304 stainless steel — built in the USA.

Model and Installation Information

This is model AAEP-36C, the freestanding cart configuration. There is no island cutout involved — nothing is cut, framed or finished for this grill, and no masonry work is needed. Because ignition is a 9V battery system with push-button controls, the cart needs no electrical outlet either; the only connection is gas. Allow room for the 36" body to open its hood fully and for access to the gas connection.

LP and NG are separate factory builds, ordered as AAEP-36C-LP and AAEP-36C-NG, so pick the one matching your supply before ordering rather than planning to convert it. If you want a rotisserie, the ART-ROT36 kit — motor, spit and forks — is sold separately for this grill; a rotisserie burner built into the grill from the start is a Professional series feature, not an American Eagle one. Call us if you are unsure which fuel version or which accessories suit your setup.

Artisan quotes this cart at a nominal 60,000 BTUs, and that is the number to hand your gas fitter when the supply line and regulator are sized. The company separately publishes a certified total rated input of 56,400 BTU/hr for the appliance, certified to ANSI Z21.58 / CSA 1.6. For the grill actually in front of you, the serial plate carries the definitive BTU rating and orifice size, which is where Artisan's care and use manual directs owners and installers.

Who This Model Is Best For

The AAEP-36C is for the cook who wants the widest American Eagle cooking surface without building an outdoor kitchen around it. Three burners over 36" give you two hot zones and a real cool zone at once, which is the practical reason to take this over the 32" cart — you can roast a bird indirectly while burgers sear beside it. The lift-assist hood matters at this width, and the ART-ROT36 kit lets you add rotisserie cooking later without stepping up to the Professional series. If your patio is tight or you never need a third zone, the 32" or 26" cart is the more sensible footprint.

Frequently Asked Questions

How wide is the AAEP-36C and how much power does it have?

The grill is 36" wide and runs three 20,000 BTU U-burners for 60,000 BTUs total. That is the largest American Eagle cart, and the extra width mostly buys you a genuine cool zone alongside two hot ones.

Can I add a rotisserie to it?

Yes. Artisan lists the ART-ROT36 rotisserie kit for this grill, which includes the motor, spit and forks. It is sold separately rather than built in.

If you want a rotisserie burner built into the grill from the start, look at the Professional series instead.

Is the sear burner included?

No, the Sear Zone infrared burner is an optional accessory. Added, it gives you high-heat searing in one zone without flare-ups from drippings hitting an open flame.

What grade of stainless is it?

Commercial-grade 304 stainless steel, built in the USA. Cooking grates are heavy-duty stainless with an electro-polished finish.

How is the heat spread across 36 inches?

Refractive ceramic heat distributing briquettes sit between the burners and the grates. They convert the flame into radiant heat, which is what keeps the far ends of a wide grill from running cold.

Do I need power at the grill?

No. A 9V electronic ignition with push-button controls handles lighting, so the only connection the cart needs is gas.

Is the lid heavy on a grill this wide?

It has an integrated hood lift assist system, so the 36" lid opens and stays up without holding it. A built-in thermometer in the hood lets you cook lid-down at a known temperature.

How fine is the flame control?

Fully adjustable brass valves control each burner, so low really is low. That is what makes indirect roasting on the unlit side workable.

Are the controls safe to touch during a long cook?

Artisan's air-cooling control panel keeps the front cool to the touch and protects the electronics behind the knobs.

Which fuel types can I get?

LP and NG versions are both made. Pick the one matching your supply before ordering.

What other accessories are made for it?

Artisan lists a Sear Zone infrared burner, a Sear Zone grate that captures juices, a wind guard for exposed locations and a weather-resistant grill cover. Browse the range in our Artisan cart grills collection.
