This kit is for Pre-2015 Primo Oval X-Large grills. Primo's earlier and later X-Large grills take different hinge hardware, and the two are not interchangeable, so the question to answer before you buy is not which size you own but which generation.
A ceramic grill outlasts most of the metal bolted to it, which is precisely why this listing exists. An X-Large that has been in the yard since before 2015 can be entirely sound in the ceramic and still need the hardware that carries the dome renewed. The kit supplies the hinge, the bands that clamp the two ceramic halves, and the handle.
The signs are usually gradual: a lid that no longer stays where you leave it, a handle that has started to wobble, or a dome that closes with a gap you can see. Because the seal between dome and base depends on the dome landing flat, that gap becomes a temperature problem long before it becomes a mechanical one.

How do I tell if my Primo Oval X-Large is a pre-2015 grill?
The dividing line is when the grill was built, so start with when it was bought. A new purchase made before 2015 puts you on this kit; a later one does not. If the grill was secondhand and the history is unclear, chase down the original sale date before ordering, because the two eras genuinely do not accept each other's hardware.
Can I fit the newer post-2015 hardware to my older grill?
No, and it is worth not trying. The Post-2015 Oval X-Large hinge and handle kit is built around the later grill, so the answer for an older X-Large is the pre-2015 kit on this page. Stay within your grill's own generation and the parts go on as intended.
What is in the kit?
Three parts: hinge, bands, handle. Between them they are what holds the ceramic halves together and lets the dome swing. Sold as a set, so the parts that share the load are all the same age, which matters on hardware where one tired component drags the alignment of the others out with it.
How do I know it is the hinge and not the gasket causing my temperature swings?
Look at how the dome sits when it is closed. If it rests unevenly, rocks, or leaves a visible gap on one side, the hardware is holding it out of true. If it lands square and flat but the grill still runs away from a low target, suspect the seal instead. Often enough on an older grill it is both.
Do I need two people to fit it?
It is much easier with two. Once the bands are slackened, the dome is loose ceramic with nothing holding it, and it is heavy. Have a helper steady and lift it, work with the grill cold, and set the dome square against the base before you tighten anything down for good.
Will this fit an Oval Large or an Oval Junior?
No. It is cut for the X-Large shell. The Large has its own pair of era-specific kits and the Junior has a single kit that covers both eras, so choose the listing that names your grill rather than adapting one that nearly matches.
