What are the cutout dimensions for the TF-DR3-17-A?

15 3/8" wide, 27 3/8" high, 20 3/8" deep. The unit measures 17"W x 20.5"D x 30"H and mounts flush once it is in.

What opening width is it meant for?

Flush-mount island openings from 15" to 19 7/8". Anything wider and you leave a gap the 17" frame will not cover.

Three drawers in 30 inches of height. How deep is each one?

The unit stacks three drawers into a 30" tall, 20.5" deep cabinet, so each drawer is shallow front to top but runs the full depth back. That suits utensils, dinnerware, and flat tools better than bulky items.

Do the drawers pull out completely?

Yes. Heavy-duty full-extension tracks with ball-bearing slides bring each drawer clear of the island face, so you can see the back of the drawer instead of feeling for it.

Are they soft-close?

All three. Each drawer takes over at the end of the travel and closes itself quietly rather than being pushed shut against the frame.

What does the face look like from the front?

Hingeless 304 stainless with a modern handle on each drawer, so the 17" column reads as three flat panels with no exposed hardware.

Is 17 inches wide enough to be worth a dedicated cutout?

It is the vertical answer to a narrow run of island: three drawers of storage out of 17 inches of width. If you want the same width in a shorter cabinet, the 17" double drawer is 22" tall with two drawers.
