Why does a power burner need a liner more than a regular burner?
A power burner generates intense, concentrated heat. Without insulation, that heat reaches combustible cabinetry directly.
The liner creates a thermal barrier between the burner and the island structure, which is what lets you build the surround from wood, composite or plastic rather than masonry.
What are the cutout dimensions?
The published cutout width is 16 1/4" and the height is 9 1/4". The depth figure on file is inconsistent, so confirm it against the installation specification supplied with your burner before you cut the island.
Frame the width and height to the liner, since the liner is what seats into the opening.
How is the liner constructed?
It uses a 1" thick double-walled insulated design. The dead air space between the two walls is what slows heat transfer into the framing.
What material is it?
Weather-resistant #304 stainless steel, so the liner resists corrosion over the long term even though it ends up largely enclosed in the island.
Is the liner optional if my island is masonry?
Summerset lists it as the component for combustible outdoor kitchen installations. Wood-framed and composite islands are the case it is built for.
If you are unsure how your island is framed, settle that before ordering, since the cutout size depends on whether the liner is in the assembly.
How do I know I have a Pro Power Burner and not a side burner?
Check the model designation on the burner itself. Power burners and double side burners take different liners with different cutouts, so the two are not interchangeable.
