Artisan Built-In Grill Replacement: Older ART, ART2 and AAE Models and Their Current Match

Every discontinued Artisan built-in grill we could trace, from 2011 onward, uses the same countertop opening as the current Artisan grill of the same size. Artisan's cutout has stayed constant: 19¾ inches deep, 9½ inches high, and 1½ inches narrower than the grill's nominal size. This page records the openings on Artisan's own original spec sheets and shows which current Artisan grill matches each older model.

Last verified 2 October 2026. Prices change; the product page always shows the current price. Measure your actual opening before you order.

How to read this page

Status What it means
Confirmed same-opening replacement The manufacturer publishes the identical cutout width, depth and height for the old and current model and links them in its own documents (here, one liner listing naming both). An installer should still check your opening.
Same published opening The published openings match in all three dimensions, but no manufacturer document links the two models directly.
Dimensional candidate Close, but one dimension differs or something else needs changing. The note says what.
Not covered We could not verify the original figure from a manufacturer document.

All figures are inches, written width × depth × height. Artisan has not published a statement naming its current grills as successors to the older models, so the strongest status here is "same published opening".

Which Artisan do you have?

Read the model number and serial number from the rating plate. Artisan's discontinued built-ins are the first ART-26, ART-32 and ART-36 (spec sheets dated 2011), and the ART2-32, ART2-36, AAE-26, AAE-32 and AAE-36 (spec sheets dated 2013). Today's lines are the American Eagle (AAEP), the Professional (ARTP) and the current Artisan Series.

Watch the model number ART-32 and ART-36. Artisan used these numbers on a 2011 grill and reuses them on the current Artisan Series. They are different grills that happen to share the same opening. If you are not sure which you have, the serial plate tells us; send us a photo of it.

Artisan's 2011 and 2013 sheets differ slightly in the grill's overall depth (26¼ vs 265⁄16 inches) and in the maximum-opening callout, but not in the cutout itself.

If your island has an Artisan insulated jacket

The Artisan jacket part numbers ARTIJ-26, ARTIJ-32 and ARTIJ-36 date from Artisan's 2011 sheets and are still current, with the same jacket opening (for example 33¼ × 23⅝ × 10¼ for the 32-inch). Artisan's jacket sheet says to check your grill's manual or serial plate, so confirm the jacket listed for your new grill before reusing an old one.

Before you order

  • Read the model and serial number from the rating plate rather than going by size.
  • Measure the opening: width at the front and back, depth, and height to the first thing below the counter.
  • Check fuel: natural gas and propane are separate configurations.
  • The Artisan Series and Professional need a 120V outlet for ignition and lights; the American Eagle uses battery ignition.

Get help with your Artisan replacement

Send us the old model number from the rating label, your measured opening (width at the front and back, depth, and height to the first thing below the counter), whether there is a liner or jacket, what the island is built from, and your fuel. Use the fit help form or call 843-212-7209. We are a retailer: installation must be confirmed by a qualified installer against the manufacturer's current instructions.

FAQ

Will a new Artisan grill fit my old Artisan opening?

On Artisan's published figures, yes for every older model we traced: the 2011 ART, the 2013 ART2 and AAE grills and today's AAEP, Artisan Series and Professional all use the same 19¾-deep, 9½-high opening at each width. An installer should still check your actual opening.

What replaced the Artisan AAE-32?

The American Eagle AAEP-32 has the same published opening, 30½ × 19¾ × 9½ inches. Artisan has not published a statement naming it the successor, but the figures match exactly.

My grill says ART-36. Is it old or new?

Both exist: Artisan used ART-36 in 2011 and again on the current Artisan Series. They share the same opening, so either way the current ART-36 or ARTP-36 fits the published cutout. The serial plate tells us which you have.

Can I reuse my Artisan jacket?

The ARTIJ jacket part numbers and openings have not changed since 2011. Check its condition and confirm the jacket listed for your new grill before reusing it.
