The ART-32 is the built-in head from Artisan's middle series — the line that adds 110V electronic ignition and interior halogen work lights to the same 304 stainless chassis used across the 32" range, while leaving out the rear infrared rotisserie burner and lit knobs that define the Professional models. Three 304-series stainless U-burners, ported in dual rows on three sides, put up to 54,000 BTUs under 530 square inches of main grate; a two-position warming rack above brings Artisan's published total to 719 square inches. Half-inch refractive ceramic briquettes sit between the burners and heavy-duty stainless grates finished with an electro-polished non-stick surface, so the heat arrives spread across the width rather than in three stripes. The body is commercial-grade 304, 18-8 stainless with heli-arc hand-welded seams and no mechanical fasteners, and the seamless double-walled hood is spring-assisted with a thermometer set into it.

Key Features

  • Three 304 stainless U-burners, up to 54,000 BTUs — dual rows of double-lanced ports on three sides, for coverage across the full grate rather than over the burner tubes alone.
  • 719 sq in of total grilling area — 530 sq in on the main grate plus a 188 sq in two-position warming rack.
  • 110V electronic ignition — continuous spark with heat-protected wiring, the step up from the 9V battery ignition used on Artisan's American Eagle heads.
  • Interior halogen work lights — the grates stay visible after dark. Lit control knobs are a Professional Series feature and are not part of this model.
  • 30-1/2" x 19-3/4" x 9-1/2" cutout — the standard Artisan 32" opening, shared with the American Eagle and Professional heads of the same size.
  • Refractive ceramic briquettes and electro-polished grates — half-inch briquettes under heavy-duty stainless grates with a non-stick finish.
  • Heli-arc welded 304 stainless throughout — no mechanical fasteners, seamless double-walled spring-assist hood, integrated thermometer. Made in the USA.

Artisan Series ART-32 Spec Sheet

Model and Installation Information

Order this head as ART-32 and name the gas: ART-32-NG for natural gas, ART-32-LP for propane. The orifices differ between the two, so match the model to the line already run to the island. Do not confuse it with the ARTP-32 or the AAEP-32 — those are the Professional and American Eagle heads at the same nominal size, and they differ in ignition, lighting and rear-burner content rather than in fit.

The opening is 30-1/2" wide by 19-3/4" deep by 9-1/2" high, which is the standard Artisan 32" cutout and is the same across all three series. Build to those three figures rather than to the 32" nominal size — the head is 31-13/16" wide overall and the trim laps the opening on each side. Two things are worth settling alongside the gas line. First, this model has a 110V electronic ignition, so it needs a 115 VAC supply on a GFI-protected circuit inside the island; that same supply runs the halogen lights, and the rough-in is far easier before the island is closed up. Second, if the enclosure is built from combustible material you need the ARTIJ-32 insulated jacket, which takes its own larger opening of 33-1/4" by 23-5/8" by 10-1/4" — a decision that has to be made before framing, not after. The ART-32CV cover is sized for this built-in head; ART-32CVC is the cover for the cart version.

Who This Model Is Best For

Choose the ART-32 when you want the powered, lit version of Artisan's 32" head and have no use for a rotisserie. Against the American Eagle AAEP-32, the difference is electricity: 110V ignition instead of a battery, and halogen work lights instead of none. Against the Professional ARTP-32, the difference is the rear infrared burner and the illuminated control panel, which is what the step up in price buys there. So this is the model for someone who cooks over the main grates, wants to see the food after dark, and would rather put the difference into the island. On size, 32" of grate suits a household cooking for a family with room for guests; move up to the ART-36 if you routinely fill the grate edge to edge.

Buying From Northwoods Grills

Northwoods Grills is a family-owned retailer and we carry the Artisan line end to end. Call 843-212-7209 and we will confirm the 30-1/2" x 19-3/4" x 9-1/2" cutout against your island drawings, talk through the electrical rough-in and tell you whether the insulated jacket applies to your enclosure — all of it easier before anything is poured. Shipping is free on every order and we add no credit card fees. See the rest of the range in Artisan built-in grills, or the cart version of this same head, the ART-32C.

Artisan Series 32" Built-In Grill ART-32 - 3 Burners, 54,000 BTUs, 304 Stainless Steel

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the cutout dimensions for the ART-32?

Frame the opening 30-1/2" wide by 19-3/4" deep by 9-1/2" high. The head measures 31-13/16" wide, 26-5/16" deep and 23-1/8" high overall, so the trim laps the opening edges. Build to the cutout figures, never to the 32" nominal size.

How many BTUs does the ART-32 produce?

Artisan rates it at up to 54,000 BTUs across three 304 series stainless U-burners. Artisan does not publish a per-burner figure for this model, so treat any per-burner number you see elsewhere with caution.

Does the ART-32 come with a rotisserie?

No. The Artisan Series has no rear infrared burner and no rotisserie as standard. The ART-ROT32 kit — motor, spit and forks — is sold separately and turns over the main burners. If you want a dedicated rear rotisserie burner, that is the Professional ARTP-32.

Does this grill need electricity?

Yes. It uses a 110V electronic ignition, so it needs a 115 VAC supply on a GFI-protected circuit inside the island. The same supply runs the interior halogen lights. Plan the electrical rough-in at the same time as the gas line.

How does the Artisan Series differ from American Eagle and Professional?

Three tiers, same chassis. American Eagle uses a 9V battery ignition and has no interior lights. The Artisan Series adds 110V electronic ignition and halogen work lights. Professional adds a rear infrared rotisserie burner and an illuminated control panel on top of that.

How much cooking space is there?

530 square inches on the main grate and 188 square inches on the two-position warming rack. Artisan publishes the total as 719 square inches.

Do I need an insulated jacket?

Only if the island or enclosure is built from combustible material. The jacket for this size is the ARTIJ-32 and it needs its own larger opening of 33-1/4" by 23-5/8" by 10-1/4", so decide before the island is framed.

Natural gas or propane?

Both are available — ART-32-NG and ART-32-LP. The burner orifices differ between the two, so order to match the supply already run to the island.

What is the warranty?

Artisan's limited residential warranty runs 15 years on the stainless burners, 10 years on stainless steel parts, 3 years on the ceramic briquette trays and 1 year complete on parts and labor.
